Introduction
This paper follows on from my previous CQ Researcher article review on the subject of Global Warming. From the content of that article review, I have derived a thesis statement and three hypothetical research questions that could be introduced, in order to find out more about the subject discussed and described in that article about rising sea levels flooding island nations.
Thesis Statement
The thesis statement that I think is appropriate for my previous paper is as follows:
“An inevitable consequence of Global Warming is that some low-lying countries and parts of countries will be inundated by the rising sea levels caused by the melting of the planet’s polar ice; that will in turn pose legal and logistical questions in respect of relocating the peoples living in those places and how they can preserve their territorial, mineral and other rights”.
Research Questions
1. How many and which countries in the world are considered to be most at risk of total inundation by the rising sea levels caused by Global Warming?
2. Taking current predictions, what is the probable timescale involved; i.e. how many years before this becomes a major problem for significant numbers of people?
3. If all of the polar ice were to melt, by how much would world sea levels rise and what percentage of the present global land surface area would become submerged?
