Prosperity of a nation in different aspects depends on the health status of the people. Economic status of a country is dependent on the productivity of individuals as they work to earn a living. The authorities have roles to play in ensuring a healthy nation, and therefore increased productivity is attained.
The government of any particular nation should address several factors for the well-being of the people health wise. The country in consideration in this situation is called El Salvador. It is a developing country located in Central America and thus faced with various challenges prone in developing countries. It has a population of 6,125,512. Statistically, the rate of population growth in the nation have recently dropped with a slight margin between birth rate and death rate. Provision of social amenities to the people in El Salvador such as water and communication network is still a concern with the current situation not satisfying due to the dense population in the small nation. The country is poor compared to other Latin American countries with a low per capita income. Attainment of stability if the country was clealry notice after the civil war and the signing of peace agreement during that period. Stability in the leadership led to a good structural and economic growth which in turn led to an increase in the population of El Salvador at a fast rate.
Several aspects about the country are statistically stated thus giving the various status of the country. Health outlook seems to raise concern with data from different health organizations showing that airborne and waterborne diseases are common in the country. Infection rates of these kinds of diseases is very high which is what leads to the noted increase in the death rate especially among the middle-aged group who contribute to the highest percentage of the population in the country. Education outlook of the country still depicts the need for some changes to be made. The gender equality, when it comes to education, is not well observed with data showing a high percentage of educated males than female. Chance to education should be granted equal to all with conditions made favorable for anyone to acquire knowledge and skills.
Economic outlook of El Salvador is not attractive. Majority of the population are living below the poverty line. It faces a lot of challenged in the production sector with a low per capita income. It is clear that not many opportunities for personal development are available in El Salvador. Furthermore, it is clear that people opt to emigrate in search of better lives. Leadership outlook is also crucial in the matter. Some laws and regulations formulated and enforced fuel the prevalence of poor living conditions in the country. For example, the law on maternal leave should be reviewed to ensure the mother takes good care of an infant before going back to work. Good and enough breastfeeding ensure good growth of the child and strength to fight against bacteria that cause several illnesses.
The leadership of the country is responsible for the changes required for development to be realized. Access to a health facility is a crucial aspect due to environmental factors in the world today that subjects to a variety of health challenges. The fist reccomendation is that the relevant authorities should ensure that health care centers are well distributed for easy access by people from different parts of the nation. In addition, the health care centers should be well equipped with the necessary tools, facilities and personnel. More importance of such facilities can be noticed when they are used as a communication and medical campaign initiation centers. The medical facilities in the various parts of the country can be used as arms to reach out to the people concerning a particular medical concern such the fight against malaria (Ramaniet el. 2008). It is crucial due to the high population that need proper care at all times to be more productive and contribute more to economic improvement of the country.
The other reccomendation is about economic status of the people in the country as explained by Maxwell (2012). Poverty in most cases determines the health wellbeing of people in the society due to various reasons. First, health of individuals is determined by the type and quality of food one consumes over a period. Poor economic status denies the people a chance to have decent nutritious meals at the required time and amount. The purchasing power of people is determined by their purchasing power, which is directly influenced by the income after undertaking a certain income generating activity. It is the leaders' to ensure that well-paying jobs are available for the people to be able to have decent diets at appropriate times. It is clear that productivity of the nation is consequently affected by the health status of the people. Creation of jobs also ensures that emigration is minimized maintaining the gender ratio and therefore productivity. For example, the case of a developing country El Salvador, individuals migrate to other neighboring countries in such of better paying jobs and thus improved living standards. Social amenities and infrastructure are the other vital components towards achieving a healthy nation. Infrastructure should be well organized and distributed. Good and well maintained roads ensure that there is easy access to health care facilities in cases of emergency at any time (Nash, 2011). Improved economic status of the people will ensure stability, reduced, crime rate, better facilities, and good balanced diet that will improve the health status of the nation in general.
Sanitation may seem minor but very critical in attaining a healthy nation. The relevant authorities should ensure they have well-orchestrated programs regarding the sanitation of different places of the country. It includes things such as safe, timely, and proper disposal of wastes. Clean water for consumption is an issue that should not at any cost be compromised. Sanitation facilities should be easily availed to the people if not for free then at an affordable price. Information regarding the need to maintain a good hygiene should be prioritized to help the people about the issue of sanitation (Graig, 2011). Strategies should be formulated to control the spread and prevalence of waterborne and airborne disease such as malaria and cholera.
In conclusion, the authorities of any country have a massive role to play in ensuring a healthy nation is attained. Rules and regulations should be formulated in consideration of the health aspect of the nation. For example, laws concerning abortion should not be so strict thus encouraging illegal procedures that are dangerous and affect the lives of the women who have to undertake an abortion. It also depends on willingness the people are of a particular nation towards attaining a healthy nation.
