It has been witnessed that all the nurses contribute towards their profession. As a licensed practice nurse, I have spent more time while dealing with the patients and their families during my internship program in LPN program. I have seen many patients getting better through the care provided to them, and this encouraged me to continue my education in this field to become a Registered Nurse. As an LPN, I always wanted to contribute my part for the betterment of the patients that is the utmost priority within this profession.
I realized the fact that my responsibility and goal within this profession is to promote the wellness of the patients and taking appropriate measures in order to prevent the illness of the caretakers. In addition to this, the facilitation of the patients in coping with the illness, and restoration of the health of individuals was also among my major goals as LPN. Moreover, during my LPN internship program, I have gained most of the necessary skills required for the effective treatment and care of the patients. I learned all the roles of a good nurse and learned how to become a caregiver, an educator, a collaborator, an advocate, a counselor, a consultant, and a manager so that I can bring a positive change within the health of the patients. Further, I believe that the support of the patients along with their education regarding the care plan is essential for an effective treatment, and by having a good communication and listening skills, I can educate and support the patients in a better way.
Apart from this, I am a very dedicated person who believes in hard work as the sole way to success. Moreover, I have learned how to accept the responsibilities and fulfill them as a member of the health care sector. The main responsibilities within this profession are to maintain the health of the patients and preventing any illness, disability or disease for the purpose of improving the quality of life of the individuals. As mentioned earlier, as an LPN, I have got an opportunity to spend more time with the patients and their families as compared to the doctors and registered nurses. In this way, I have experienced and learned how to provide emotional support to the patients and how to respond to their varying needs. Moreover, I have learned how to develop the care plan for different patients who are facing different diseases. In addition to the planning skills, I have good implementation and evaluation skills and abilities to monitor the performance of the nurse assistants in providing care to the patients.
Being a professional LPN, I do not compromise the ethical code of practice while dealing with the patients and the coworkers. No one can deny the fact that collaboration among the registered nurses, LPN’s, doctors, physicians, healthcare assistants, and other volunteers is really necessary for providing timely and effective care facilities to the patients. In this regard, I have strong team working and collaborative skills that help me in finding the solutions to any particular situation with the help of the team members. Furthermore, multi-tasking is one of my strengths that make the provision of efficient care to the patients possible. Additionally, I have strong technical skills that assist me in maintaining as well as understanding the electronic medical records of the patients. Finally, I have learned how to manage the situations and work in teams under stressful conditions, which will assist me in future practice as well. As a conclusion, it can be said that I have learned to be a good nurse, and all the good nurses do contribute their part to their profession.
