Reflection on Mobile Device in Education and Learning Management System (LMS)
First, I would like to express my views about mobile device, its ability to transform education. I believed that there are many uses of mobile device and how it creates new forms of learning. Mobile devices refers to wireless and easy to carry devices, cellphones, e – book readers, MP3 and portable media players or iPod touch, and tablets or iPads. Perfectly, these devices are different from desktops and personal computers or PCs, students and people carry these small useful devices anywhere. I can say that these powerful small devices motivates students; it really provides constant access to the wealth of tools, knowledge, and experts on the web and obviously cheaper and plentiful than laptops or desktops. It allows the students to use their devices as a note – taking tool, record a video for speech class, take a picture, work on projects together on Google drive to analyze and process new information, makes learning fun and extend the borders of the classroom to the world. The greatest strength of mobile devices could be for outside – the – classroom learning; it is a cheaper way of doing one – to – one learning and students would have a shorter learning process since they are familiar to these devices.
In Learning Management System (LMS), this is a software application, or a web – based technology; it is used to plan, put into practice, and assesses specific learning processes. I have encountered LMS typically for teachers as a system that provides multiple ways to create and deliver content, monitor student participation, assess student performances. It can also provide students the ability to utilize the tool for interactions such as discussions, video conferencing, forums. In some cases, institutions throughout the world designed LMS for those who have difficulty attending the traditional mode of instructional delivery due to the following reasons; inadequate time, busy work schedule, physical barriers or living in a distant place, and inadequate financial resources. LMS is also designed for mature learners who have the capacity to undergo an independent self – learning. I could say that the most important fact, it caters to individuals who are self – motivated and the desire for self – advancement.
