Dear Ms.insert name ,
I am writing you a letter with a regard to the issue that I have faced during completion of studies at our university. I would highly appreciate your time for addressing my letter. My request is the following. I am looking for you approval in being excused from the foreign language requirement for the Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree because of the reasons explained below. I have been going to insert name of the state State University since year 2000 and have had many challenges that had prevented me from originally completing my degree. These challenges include health, the death of both of my parents, and the financial cost of college. It has been hard to cope with the workload of life and school. However, I have been fortunate to have landed a good career as a Systems Administrator and sheriff. I am highly appreciating the jobs that I have. Unfortunately, being 34 years old and having a good career, I don’t feel there would be any benefit to complete any foreign language at this point in my life/career. My life and career goals will not require me to acquire a foreign language, I have always had a goal to complete a degree program at University, I have been taking classes over the past three years to raise my GPA to the minimum requirement to graduate because I am willing to pursue my education after graduation. I am asking you to review and recommend me to be excused from this language requirement. I hope for your understanding and further help with solution of this problem that I am facing while getting my degree. Please, let me know when will be the suitable time to meet, so I can present all the reasons for my decision. I appreciate your time and I am looking forward to your reply.
Best regards,
