1. Metaphors used by Martin Luther king are
“The desert state”
Martin Luther king used this metaphor to refer to the promises that were made but not fulfilled in the declarations of the independence and the constitution in America.
He states that though they have been fulfilled African-Americans have not yet reaped the benefit. (King, 56)
” The crooked places will be made straight”
Injustice would come to a halt
2. As opposed to the way one reads a phrase silently Martin Luther King repeats the beginning of sentences to emphasize on phrases. This yields a greater understanding of the key points. It also brings a sense of imagination and promotes rhetoric critique
3. Some of the rhythms and allusions used by Martin Luther King are familiar while others are not (King, 72). While some of his allusions come from among the old books of history or direct quotes from someone else works of presentation yet not familiar to me. Others are the common biblical quotes best known to me. Although some of these allusions and rhythms are not familiar to me, this does not create any basis for not understanding moral and ethical implications of Martins call for action. In essence Martins speeches are self-explanatory. His methods of presentation and emphasis on key points are a prime driver to the expected response regardless of the anonymity of his rhythms and allusions.
Revenge is always never a solution to a wrong done to someone. On the other hand forgiving does not always yield a fact and especially when the mistake is intentional. The act of forgiveness and revenge can only be reconciled if the mistake is just or else no elements of intentionality are included.
The greatest tool to fight injustice is starting by being just before having any undertaking. It is achieved by identifying whether you are a victim of injustice and switching to alleviate the fault.
Second it is always advisable to take legal actions only and only when it is so necessary this avails room for dialogue where discontent issues are analysed.
Third develop healthy methods of propagating message. It is supposed to hold the aspect of correctness and centeredness. Where the right information reaches the intended person and with the right intention.(King, 98)
A certain group of people has the capability of addressing certain issues of injustice. On the side of a community this might not be possible as each person has a different feeling towards the situation. Some go by the motive that “injustice is injustice when it occurs on you”.
A live witnessed case of injustice
Back in 2009 there was a church based NGO in our region that required getting the number of people in their selected clusters for the issuance of free mosquito nets. Officers in charge were expected to carry out an interview on everyone who wished to enumerate the various clusters. It happened that the qualifications for an enumerator according to the national Grading of the country was a C-(minus) in the “O” levels and most preferably a resident of that enumeration region. This was not the case with our enumeration region. The Chief officer of the enumeration interview was so tribalistic and mean. Although he conducted the interviews it happened that his son who had scored a D (plain) in the “O” levels and a non-resident qualified for the interview. It was quite a great shock to the top clean residents of the region although their cries fell on deaf ears.
4. The content of my character is living up to the set of my ethical ideals despite all the pressures of work. In measuring up my ethical ideals
I try prioritizing the society over my own well-being
I evaluate my choices and imagines what would happen if everybody adopted similar behaviours
Figuring out people who failed to live by their ethical ideals and the consequences of the same.
