A sports culture creates a platform for general interaction of a society, country or a continent through organized sports leagues. This paper mainly focuses on the difference and contrast between the sports culture of the USA and that of Mexico.
The games mostly played in both states are closely related. For example, in Mexico the most played games are football followed by boxing. Their national sport is Charreada whereas in other parts like in the Northwest and the Southeast regions, fancy baseball. In the US, they also have football as the most popular sport, almost like their national sport. US has four major sports league that is highly treasured for instance, baseball, basketball, football and hockey league.
The salary of athletes in the US and Mexico differs much. According to a Forbes report of the top paid athletes in groups, US appear to have a great number of athletes with a huge salary. For instance, Floyd Mayweather, who is a professional boxer, is paid 300 Million dollars followed by LeBron James; a basketball player, who is paid 64 Million dollars and Kevin Durant, who also plays basketball and is paid 54 Million Dollars. In Mexico, the most paid athlete is Adrian Gonzalez Sabin, a footballer being paid 21 Million dollars followed by Jodge De La Rosa, who is paid 11 Million dollars. Moreover, Saul Canelo Alvarez, who is ranked third in Mexico, is paid 10 Million dollars (forbes.com).
The perspectives and products of Mexico and the US differ. Perspectives are a representation of a culture’s view of a country while the products are social behaviors. The USA and Mexico are great investors of their own. Both hold 100 Billion dollars direct investment. Based on the facts, about 40% of the products imported from Mexico to USA result from the products produced in the USA (Wilson). Taking in consideration the fact that the USA is advanced technologically than Mexico, the two governments depend much on each other. They both share a common form of government for example, the federal government.
In conclusion, the sports culture of the USA and that of Mexico do not differ that much. For instance, they both value football, depend on each other economically and even share a common government, which is a federal government. There is no much difference between Mexico and US in terms of sports, but the US athletes are obviously paid well as compared to those in Mexico.
