Mexico is one of the states that boarders united states. According to the article, ‘The Rise of Mexico’ United States has for a long time ignored the activities taking place in their neighboring countries. The economy of Mexico has been growing at a very high rate. It has been able to export large volumes of manufactured products to other countries. According to the article, it can be predicted that Mexico will be the largest exporter of manufactured products as opposed to China in the near future. This is considering the fact that wages in China has increased resulting to increase in price of exports. Since Mexico is able to export cheap products, it is likely that it will overtake China soon.
The article argues that china is the biggest exporter of products to United States. However, China products will change if Mexico continues to expand it manufacturing industries. This is why there is a need to create links with Mexico. The author supports the development of Mexico by arguing that the unemployment rate in the country is half that of United States. This shows that the country is developing faster than United States.
Immigration from Mexico to United States has not been monitored. The author argues that United States faces the danger of insecurity if there are no checks between the boarder of Mexico and United States. Many weapons that are made in Mexico are likely to find their way into United States increasing the crime rates in the states. This is considering the fact that the crime rates in Mexico are very high and the government has taken no actions to control them.
Drug trafficking in Mexico is very high. The author proposes government intervention to control the spread of this habit to United States; this is considering the fact that the movements across the borders of the two states are not monitored.
Opinion.
Neighboring countries usually benefit from each other. However, there are some instances when problems in one country spread to the neighboring countries. In this case, there is a need for negotiation between the United States and Mexico. In the first place, the two countries can make trade agreements that are to favor the two countries. This will help United States to avoid import of expensive products from other countries. On the other hand, Mexico will benefit by importing products it does not produce from United States. This will benefit the citizens from the two countries.
If no control measures are taken, illegal migration into United States will increase. This is because many traders travelling to Mexico will find their way to United States easily. United States should find ways of monitoring movement between the boarders of the two countries. If this is not done, the industries in United States will be adversely affected. In the first place, people will easily move goods to United States without paying any tax. This will cause unfair competition between the Mexican produced goods and those produced in United States. This can lead to closure of emerging industries in United States causing more unemployment.
If the boarders are not controlled, insecurity of United States will soon increase. Terrorists will find their way into United States through Mexico causing harm to the local people. Without proper checks at the boarders, people will be able to carry firearms easily to the United States. This will increase crimes such as murder in the states. Therefore, there is a need to control the boarders between Mexico and United States. This is because there are many risks associated with the growth of Mexico.
