Rendering services as a certified nursing assistant for a period of three years was indeed a strong motivational drive for me to continue working hard with determination and become a nurse. As a career, nursing does not denote merely a job for me; it is my zealous passion to offer my nursing services and facilitate the ill to recover both physically and psychologically. Achieving this dream, however, requires commitment, compassion, and the right education. Therefore, I am looking forward to obtain my Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and turn out to be a competent nurse practitioner. Yet, I possess the understanding that being a good nurse is not dependent on attaining a related degree. A good nurse is characterized by an authentic and genuine relationship with the clients. For the same reason, I have adopted nursing as a lifestyle and not as an occupation. In fact, I have not chosen nursing as my ultimate career. Instead, it seems that this profession has chosen me considering my sympathetic heart, patience, honesty, and concern towards my fellow beings. If the truth is told, my nature and personal traits mirror almost all the qualities required to become a proficient nursing professional. Sitting with hospice patients by their bed side, holding their hands, and witnessing their last breaths have been extremely overwhelming for me. Knowing that those ‘departing’ individuals had no loved one with them in their last moments of life further strengthened my decision to offer my love, care, and empathy to each one of my patients. At the same time, all such inopportune experiences have made me a better person who is grateful for even the smallest things in life. Although I am not working as a nurse currently, working in this field for several years has allowed me to gain a valuable insight of this field. To be honest, I have never been surer of anything in my life than my desire to be a capable nurse.
