PC technician
PC technicians are people who deal with computer repairs and ensure that the computers are in good working conditions. Their tasks range from computer repair to troubleshooting computer networks. The work of computer technicians are becoming common and increasing by the day. With computer gadgets being created by the day, many tasks of computer technicians increase. Computer technicians not only deal with hardware problems, they are also supposed to be able to handle software issues. When an information system is deployed in an organization, it will be required that that information system will undergo repairs and support. The support technicians will therefore be required to be working in this category. The software technicians include those working in the databases that are deployed in an organization, the information systems experts and common computer applications that are used in that organization. Most of the technicians are certificate and diploma holders. Most companies prefer professional certifications for technicians. It is because professional certifications are comprehensive and exhaustive.
There are certifications that are required of a PC technician. One of the certifications is hardware professionals (A++). This certification is offered for anyone who is interested in computer repairs. This person will be tasked with handling and repairing all types of computer problems. They will repair RAM, motherboards and power supply. This is offered for a period of two years and the students will get an A++ certification and will work in any organization. Another similar certification for a hardware technician is that ComTIA. This is also a certification that is done by people interested in hardware repairs. They will also be taught on computer networking. Like an A+ professional, they will handle all types of computer repairs.
Another certification that is required of PC technicians includes the database certifications. There are various databases and certifications that are required to operate a database that are used in many organizations. One of the common database professional certifications is Oracle database certification. It is required that the database computer technicians help the database programmers in their tasks. They will be required to clean the databases so that they remain as optimal as possible.
Another common PC certification is that of Cisco Network associate. This is a certification from Cisco Company. They are meant to offer exclusive networking lessons and skills to repair any type of computer network problems. The certification includes an introduction of computer hardware so that the network professional has some basic knowledge on computer hardware. The certifications come in two flavors, the technician and the professional. The technician is required to undertake Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). The former is meant for someone who has no knowledge in PC technology. The latter is meant for those people who have had some knowledge in PC.
Other certifications come with information systems that are installed in the organizations. The certifications that are required for these information systems will depend on the developers. Small systems have no formal certifications and they are used in small geographical areas. The developers undertake training for the technicians and there is no certificate that is offered.
PC technicians are required to have knowledge in PC hardware, information systems and computer networks. PC technicians are required to have enough knowledge on both hardware and software. The software includes databases, information systems, and computer applications that are commonly used. Hardware certifications include PC hardware and networking.
