Co-relational Research
The objective of the co-relational research is to demonstrate the connection between two variables. The co-relational research is different from the experimental research in several ways. Primarily, co-relational researches can only be used to identify the connection between two variables. By this relation, the co-relational research assists in making predictions. However, the co-relational research lacks the efficiency to decide the causation as to which variable is the basis of transformation in the other variable. The most significant task of the co-relational research is to describe or forecast behavior. Co-relational research is further divided into two categories namely positive correlation and negative correlation. The significant characteristic of correlation encompasses of strength and direction. The co-relation ranges from (-1 to +1) which determines its strength or degree. In such situation, the result of the co-relation can be positive, negative or zero. Its direction relation refers the negativity or positivity of the co-relation. The co-relational research is beneficial in learning a broad range of variables and also their inter-connection. Also, it also facilitates in learning those variables that are hard to produce in the laboratory. However, it usually creates an issue in the self-report method.
Descriptive Research
In contrast to the co-relation research, the objective of descriptive research is to gather quantifiable data that is essential for the statistical conclusion. Unlike the co-relational research, the descriptive research is based on the closed-ended questions that restrict the capability to judge something from deep insight. The use of descriptive research can prove to be beneficial if effectively utilized in the organizations to measure or define the importance of the response that is collected by the group of people. In the case of considering the online surveying, the descriptive research is the most commonly used research method in the companies that facilitate in analyzing the strength of the opinion of the target group. The descriptive research is often explained to the readers with the help of graphs and charts. Unlike the co-relational research, descriptive research generates such records that are in detail and also examine several subjects. The descriptive research is beneficial as it discovers new ideas and theories. Considering the similarity between co-relational research and descriptive research, they are less expensive than other researches (Mangal and Mangal).
Historical Research
On the contrary, the aim of the historical research is to understand, study and explain the historical event. The function of the historical research is to reach the exact result after carefully considering the past events that are helpful to analyze the current or upcoming events. The historical research is useful to present a detailed and wide-ranging picture of past trends. Also, the historical research is conducted through with the help of existing data and information. In comparison to descriptive research and co-relational research, the historical research can effectively present the issues, troubles, and trend of current times. However, the historical research has several restrictions that create inefficiency in the research method. Primarily, the historical research consumes plenty of time in the completion of research. Also, the resources that are essential to processing the research are conflicting and hard to locate. Most significantly, the data gathered from the historical research is neither complete nor obsolete that creates major issues in identifying the actual cause of the problem. Therefore, the inconclusiveness of the historical research is considered as its major limitation (Bray, Adamson, and Mason 48).
