Martin Luther King is one of the famous and great Americans. In fact, he is the famous individual that is associated with issues of civil rights movement in the United States. The civil right movement that took place in the 1950s and 1960s culminated the racial inequality and injustice that had taken place for more than 300 years in the United States. The movement took the tremendous momentum to build the realization and frustration that inequality had brought up. Martin Luther King played various roles in the civil rights movement that will never go unmentioned. He became the leader of civil right movement, a post that made him extraordinary individual.
Undoubtedly, Martin Luther King helped the black people with equal rights through being a leader of civil right movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Martin Luther becomes the voice of the oppressed individuals who were discriminated because of their race. He effectively used the media to communicate his intent to a wide number of people (Gary & Forsey 12). It is through Martin Luther's efforts that the issues of civil rights became prominent. Martin Luther had brawny leadership qualities that encouraged many people to strive and preserve equality in a pacifist and moral manner.
The Martin Luther King role was to lead the activities of the civil rights movement. The civil rights activist under the leadership of Martin Luther King organized marches, voter-registration drives, demonstrations, as well as boycotts. He actually played a role in ensuring that his followers did not obey laws that discriminated them and were unjust and wrong. The peaceful protests planned by Martin Luther King faced a lot of challenges, threats, arrests, as well as beatings. In this case, the Martin Luther King role was to mobilize his followers not to fear these challenges but to remain focused on achieving their civil rights (Gary & Forsey 19).
Martin Luther King played a great role in mobilizing the public towards the attainment of civil rights. In 1963 in Washington, Martin Luther King delivered his famous speech “I have a dream”, whereby; he predicted a day of equality and respect. The Martin Luther King role was to set an example by demanding equal rights to all people regardless of race without aggression or force. He popularized the issues of equality despite the fact that he received a lot of hatred from those who disagreed with his version of equal civil rights movement.
The role of Martin Luther King in the civil right movement was being a role model in the United States. In times of challenges and rebellion, he stead fully stood by his followers in ensuring that they exercise on their civil rights. The civil rights movement began has a small movement, but the role of Martin Luther King as a mobilizer attracted many people (Gary & Forsey 25). He was a preacher who inspired his followers to remain strong regardless of the opposition they received. In the entire process of civil rights movement, Martin Luther King became the target of criticism, hate and attack. These roles gave other people an opportunity to spread civil rights movement in the United States. In the United States, many communities and people had no leader to mobilize them. In such situation, martin Luther King became his leader.
In conclusion, it is worth noting that Martin Luther King played crucial roles in the civil rights movement. It is in these roles that brought changes in the United States, and made Civil Rights movement achieve its objectives. His roles that are streamlined towards Civil Rights movement include leadership, mobilize, speaker, respected public individual, role model, as well as a target of criticism.
