The theory of schema is a theory of training. A schema is an organized, structured, divided into clusters and abstract pieces of information, which are summarized as an information network with the specified relationships between the facts and the actions. The theory argues that the scheme used by the person during the training will determine how the student interprets the task that they want to learn, and how the student understands the information and what knowledge they receive.
For me personally one of the most exciting and unusual types of learning were the training sessions organized by a company where I had a part-time job. These lessons were held in a form of role plays, and the students had to explore the information they were interested in themselves, finding ways to solve the given problem and find the way out of a complicated situation that we could encounter later in our job. This type of education was not associated to any of the previous “schemata” that I have experienced. This was very different from the standard lessons in school where the teacher just presented the material and the student took notes and listened carefully.
If to talk about the differences in the difficulty of remembering the material I can say that the role game method of education was very effective, and the remembering process was much less difficult because it was closely related to the experience. Because I was an active participator of the lesson, not just a passive listener, I managed to remember the information quickly and explore the things that were not yet perfectly understood.
The first method mentioned above is one of the methods of the interactive teaching theory that is especially used in learning foreign languages. The second method relates to the standard deductive learning theory and is common for most of the schools even nowadays.
