One morning after I had been working at Accenture for several years, an e-mail with the title “Technopia” was sitting in my inbox. I opened it with curiosity. It said the company was holding a competition for employees from all around India, to see who could come up with the best innovative idea, application, or game on a Windows Platform. I had done some touch-screen programing using Windows Phone 7 Game Programming, and knew I could develop a game that would make an excellent submission. The game showcased my analytical abilities and my creativity as a software engineer as well as my proficiency in the XNA and C# languages. Once it was polished, I sent it in. Not long after, I received word my game had won third place in all of India. With this success I realized that I needed to take my software engineering skills, build upon them, and expand my professional contribution into the more challenging role of systems architect.
I realized that this transformation would require going back to school to expand my knowledge base, but there were some important considerations. I needed to be able to finish in a reasonable time period and that would only happen if I could study full time. But without the earnings from my job, I would need to find a source of funding. That is why I am applying for a scholarship through the Texas A&M Corpus Christi scholarship program. With support of the school, I will be able to devote myself to my studies and complete the Masters of Computer Science program with the focus I prefer and within my time goals.
I am an ideal candidate for a scholarship through your program. I have a decade of experience in the software industry where I have developed the appropriate temperament and expertise in working with computers and their applications. I have always approached every project with professionalism and integrity and I will come to the Masters of Computer Science program with no less seriousness and dedication. Receiving funding to help pay for my continued education will allow me to focus on my educational goals and aspirations. With this focus, I plan on doing nothing less than achieving excellence in the classroom and in practice.
Ultimately, my goal is to make the most intellectual and valuable contribution to the global field of computer science that is possible. I am convinced that I can do this through the role of software architect and an award of a scholarship will allow me to obtain the additional education I need to continue following my aspirations down this career path. I would consider it an honor to receive an award of funding to allow me to pursue my career goals in a way that is practical and possible for me, as a mature, hard working, and dedicated computer science professional and graduate student.
