Most people want to experience success in some areas in their lives: family relations, education, business, athletics, politics, and music among others. The Bible is rife with people like David, Ayub, and Joseph among others who served God and He brought them success to live the life they desired. How can humans serve God? The answer is to live in accordance with God’s will. The New Testament presents Jesus as a role model that all Christians can emulate in their effort to serve God. In John 15:5-8 Jesus said “I am the vine and you are the branches. Those who abide in me, and I in them will bear much fruit for you can do nothing without me”. Those who choose to emulate Jesus Christ serve God and are able to lead better lives.
People can also serve God by exploiting their talents in service to others and to God. For example people can sing and worship to praise God, preach the Gospel, and help the needy in society among others. The bible states that when people serve each other, they serve God. The bible states in 2 Peter 1: 3 – “His power grants us all things that concern life and godliness.” God rewards service to Him by good health, material possessions and happy relationships with family and friends. In addition, the bible promises that everyone can know God’s will, be cleansed of sins, endure hardships, serve God obediently, enjoy an abundant life on earth and receive eternal life.
People serve God by living in accordance to His will as explained in the Bible. They can also serve God by singing praises, ushering in church, evangelizing and general service to others. When people serve God, He blesses them with materials things and fulfillment in life, and they are able to lead better lives.
