Taylorism is name after Frederick Taylor, a production supervisor who devised standardized methods of production, to replace the traditional methods. Fordism is named after Henry Ford, an American engineer who later laid the foundations of Ford Motor Company. Henry Ford also called for specialization of taska in a job, which also helped him produce low cost cars. Both, Ford and Taylor laid the foundations of industrial America.
Henry Ford advocated specialization with standard parts for automobiles. Taylor called for specialist workers with organized work to perform the tasks. Ford also focused on arranging machinery in a way that will increase production, he was an ergonomist. Taylor was a socialist, and asked for higher wages to be given to workers as an incentive to increase production. Ford also paid handsome salary to his workers in specialists jobs as an incentive for them to work harder.
Taylorism is better suited for project management, whereas Fordism is similar to operations management. Taylor focuses on one particular kind of task in a whole project, whereas Fordism focuses on mass production and assembly lines. Fordism is also responsible for reducing the prices of goods, and benefits the general public by providing with the method of standardized goods. Taylor improved the project management aspect by carefully dividing the tasks performed in a particular job and calculating the amount of time each job should take. This helped in developing reward and compensation management by paying more to workers who are more productive and less to workers who are slow and less productive. This will ensure that the organization is productive and efficient and will increase the profitability of the company.
