Arguably, the term globalization is one of the dominant and famous in the world today. In fact, every aspect of human life has been influenced by globalization. By definition, globalization refers to a process of integration and interaction among the companies, people, governments, In addition, it is a tremendous process that is that is under the aid of information technology and driven by global trade. Globalization has influence economic, social, development, societal well-being, economic, psychological, as well as political aspects in the global arena. Many scholars assert that globalization facilitates accessibility of information, products, and culture. In general perspective globalization is the hope of the future generation, whereby its impacts are already being felt in the society. Globalization is one of the best things that happened in this world, and its impacts on culture, religion, music, communication, education, technology, and business are numerous, and continue to change the world (Malota 94).
Undeniably, globalization has been there for many years. Thousands of years ago people interacted and carried out trade. Moreover, more many decades corporations and individuals invested in other countries. AS a matter of fact, the trends and globalization wave that exists today is not unique to activities that took place even before 1914 when the WWI began. In the 21st century, globalization can be analyzed as a process that has affected human life in both negative and positive ways. It is worth noting that there are major areas that globalization is emphasized which include economic, political science, sociology, psychology, anthropology, communication and geographical globalization. Each of these fields focuses on the various impacts of globalization and individuals that are affected by globalization (Lechner 45).
Globalization has developed gradually over many centuries. But in the last century changes has taken place in a rapid manner. The advancement I technology has tremendously become a tool of globalization. Globalization took place in the last century through trade and discoveries that were established. In fact, the discoveries that were made in the world led to various revolutions, which include scientific revolution, agrarian revolution, as well as the industrial revolution. Perhaps, the migration of people from one continent to another meant a transfer of ideas, products, and technology. In addition, globalization was also transferred due to change of global power (Lechner 74).
Globalization has tremendous effects in the world today. In fact, it is asserted that globalization has changed every aspect of human nature. Perhaps, in the beginning of the century, the world experienced and witnessed the importance of globalization through the introduction of internet. The internet has become the main source of information and a crucial in the field of information technology. Internet globalization has plunged the world into a modern information era. In the 21st century, internet globalization has become part of people’s life, to the extend that people cannot live without it. Hence, the internet is part of globalization that has influenced entertainment, learning, communication, exchanges, culture and research. One of the main forms of globalization today is through the internet. The internet has become a social and interactive avenue, where people can chat with friends online through social networks. These social networks include Facebook and Twitter (Hutton & Fosdick 565). In addition, internet globalization has also become part of global business activities.
The music industry has also undergone crucial globalization. In fact, the music styles and songs move around the world swiftly due to globalization. For example, the Korean song known as Gangnam Style is one of the popular styles in the world. The style has broken the Guinness book of world records. Globalization is evident in this perspective; in that globalization spreads people’s culture globally. The Gangnam style represents the Korean culture, but because of globalization the culture has become global. Globalization has enabled people to share and understand the culture of other people. People in the entire world love the style of songs, meaning people have learned to impress and share other people’s culture (Hutton & Fosdick 569).
Globalization has also become part of business activities. It is evident that Starbuck Company is one of the global restaurants. For example, in China there is a Starbucks a coffee building that is built in a Chinese traditional style. In fact, it is one of the unique coffee houses in China. This implies that Starbuck which is a famous company in Washington has gone global influencing the culture of China. In the past, the Chinese could not drink coffee, but in the 21st century, many Chinese demands more and more coffee (Tomlinson 269). This is a sigh of globalization in terms of culture and food. With globalization in place, cultural influence will affect the entire world, leading to a good development and socialization in the world.
The world we live is made up continents that have to co-exist in order to survive; hence, globalization was created by humans so as to develop a better world. As a matter of fact, there is no continent that can live without global effects. For example, in the continents there are developed and developing nations; therefore, they must coexist together so as to help each other. Poverty is one of the global problems that need to be solved, and can only be solved through a corporation. Poverty will only disappear if nations come together to fight it. Globalization has made it possible for nations and continents to unite in eliminating a global problem (Malota 100).
Globalization has also influenced and affected religious groups. People in the world connect and socialize through religious practices and activities. Global religions differ, but they have one thing in common; its objectives are to achieve a peaceful world and help them to the righteous and faithful. Religion will ensure that a peaceful world is achieved. This has been made possible by globalization.
On the other hand, globalization has also led to negative impacts. One of the negative impacts of globalization is that it corrodes the native cultures. For example, the western culture has become dominant in the globe this is because it is viewed to be superior. In addition, on issues pertaining economic globalization many children and women have become victims of human trafficking. In this case, it has caused negative impacts on underdeveloped nations. Human trafficking exposes the negative impacts of globalization in the world today (Abeng). The practice undermines human rights, questions the credibility of governments and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights In fact, globalization has led to insecurity issues in the global. The issue of terrorism has become a threat to world security and development. Other new economic ideas caused by globalization include socialism, capitalism, nazism, imperialism, communism, as well as feudalism. Globalization in general perspective has spread various types of culture which include war, food, club, Coke, gay, sex, and guns, just to mention some. Many philosophers defined culture in various ways, and with globalization, all these types of definitions are spreading in the world (Tomlinson 272).
Globalization has affected almost every group and organization in the world. Since every group and continent have a culture, it is evident that globalization has affected these cultures, and more so introduced new cultures. In contemporary society, globalization has tried to live to its expectations regardless of various challenges. Globalization has improved economic instability, increased interaction and peaceful coexistence. With the technology in place, globalization is expected to achieve its expected goals and objectives. The global policies, rules and regulations follow the path of globalization in ensuring that the negative impact of globalization is eliminated.
In conclusion, it is evident that globalization has influenced various aspects of human life. In fact, technology has become the main tool of globalization since it has increased the avenue of interaction. Based on class discussion, globalization seems to be the best thing that occurred in the world; it has influenced and created various new cultures. It impacts has made people ready to accept and learn other people's culture. Globalization has also linked the world in solving global problems such as terrorism and poverty. In general, globalization will still cause many changes in the world.
