Importance of Child Protection Bill
The Children Protection Bill is a very important legislation in the United States of America (USA) because it has helped to liberate the US children a great deal, over the years. Some of its basic functions include the following:
i) It helps to protect the children. This guarantees their safety and security from any act of aggression that, according to the law, may contravene their fundamental basic rights. For instance, it may help in curbing the chances of children being abducted or kidnapped by strangers. Since it has become a very common tendency for predators to wreck havoc to the children through the internet and other social sites like Facebook, Twitter amongst others.
ii) It helps in preventing child abuse that is likely to be done to the children. A missing child can be exposed to a lot of injustices like physical, emotional, psychological and sexual abuses. These, if not checked, can end up ruining the lives of such children permanently. Hence, this bill helps in eliminating the possible chances for the occurrence of such malpractices.
iii) It helps to prevent child abduction by the parents. This, I think, is very important in making the parents very responsible for the welfare of their children at all the times.
Categories of missing children
A missing child is that whose whereabouts can not be established by the concerned authorities. This happens after taking a specified period of time established by the laws.
i) Family abductions
This refers to a situation in which the child’s parents decide to abduct their child. In doing this, they are considered to have violated the law because; they are acting against the requirements of the Child Protection Bill. Therefore, if a parent opts to change the location of the child, may be from state to state, without following the due procedure of the law, a legal action should be taken against them since they are regarded to be abductors.
ii) Runaway abduction
This refers to a situation in which a child decides to disappear from the place where they are legally supposed to be. Such children may decide to disappear if they are not contented with the kind of life they are leading. For example, if they are continuously abused by the people who should take care of they. They can therefore decide to run away in order to seek refuge in another place, that may unfortunately be so dangerous for them.
The differences between robbery and burglary
Ideally, there are a lot of differences between robbery and burglary. Some of them are discussed herein:
i) Robbery is an attempt to or actual taking of someone’s property by force. However, burglary refers to a situation whereby a person decides to go into another’s premises, breaks into it then steal their property.
ii) Whereas robbery occurs in the presence of a witness, burglary is done secretly without allowing any party to witness it. This means that a robber actually attacks their target in order to be able to take the property they are eying for. However, a burglar only goes to a place when there is nobody there so that they can snatch a property without being noticed.
iii) A robbery incident may involve the use of arms to intimidate or attack their person. At times, a robbery with violence can lead to physical bodily harm or the killing of the target. On the other hand, a burglar does not intimidate or physically assault their target. They only tactfully smash, grab, snatch or unknowingly pick pocket their targets
iv) While it is easier to carry out investigations on the robbery cases since they involve the use of eye witnesses, it can really be tasking to carry out investigations for the burglary cases. Since there may be no eye witnesses, the investigators may need to carry out a thorough forensic study on other forms of evidence like finger prints.
International terrorism
According to the European Union (2002), international terrorism simply refers to an act that may greatly damage a country in which it is committed with the aim of intimidating her population. Basically, it is an act of aggression usually unlawfully performed to wreck havoc to the recipient country or organization(Chaliand, G., 2007).
Some of the recently highly condemned acts of international terrorism are:
i) The 23/10/2002Moscow Theater Siege in which a crowded theater was invaded by 50 armed members of Chechens. This is a militia group that owes allegiance to the Chechnya based Islamist Separatist Movement. This was a very fatal attack that eventually led to the loss of many innocent lives(Chaliand, G., 2007).
They wanted the Russian government to end the second Chachen war and withdraw her forces from Chechnya. Hence, after taking close to 850 hostages, the Russian government’s attempts to salvage the hostages later led to the death of 170 people including the attackers and the hostages.
ii) Between the 26th and 27th day of July, 2008, the Islamist terrorist group from Pakistan attacked Mumbai, the largest city in India. Their ten coordinated bombings and shootings caused the death of 173 people and wounded 308 innocent civilians.
This was also highly condemned because it was a great act of aggression that seriously violated the basic human rights and jeopardized India’s image internationally.
