The nations of the world relate in very many different ways. This is seen through the kind of relationships that exist among them depending on what they share in common or what they do not share because at least there has to be a relationship be it good or bad. Two such countries that are on the spot in this regard is the United States of America and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has over the years played an incredible role in the US economy because of its strategic position in the middle East as well as its vast oil reservoirs among other resources and the Middle eastern country has had its share of benefits from the US too.
Again, The US- Saudi relation has seen trade in regard to exports rise in the past few years. President Obama in 2010 State of the Union address highlighted the importance and goal of doubling the US export into Saudi Arabia and true to his word, Saudi has become a major export destination for US goods and services in the recent past. These exports are encompassing the education sector, business consultations and other businesses. These two nations of the world have therefore shown how trade among two nations mutually benefits its peoples through the importation and exportation of goods and services that can be found in surplus from both their ends.
The US- Saudi relations can also be seen through the tourism sector. There has been over the years, an increased amount of travels between these two nations more so, from the US to Saudi Arabia, a high number of tourists who travel there to sample what the country has to offer in terms of tourism (Arab News Para 6). The tourists enjoy the ambience of the Middle East through Saudi Arabia which is also acts as a way through which other nations in the region can be penetrated. Saudi Arabia therefore on its end benefits in a way that is best suited for it just like the way the USA benefits from it.
The Middle Eastern region of the world is one place that has experienced political turmoil in the recent past. This can be well explained through the Arab uprising that was seen in many of its countries in the recent past. There have been incidents of war activities that threatened to bring the region to its feet something that could not have affected the countries involved only but also the rest of the world. The US through its foreign policy deployed the military to the region. The military officers helped in the maintenance of law and order together with the military of Saudi Arabia. This saw political stability be maintained in this middle Eastern country in as much as many of the other countries experienced the Arab spring that saw the destabilization of many of these countries, damages to which they have not recovered to this day.
Apart from this, The USA has used its ties with Saudi Arabia in the effort to stem out terrorism. Saudi Arabia is a country that is well positioned in the fight against terrorism. America on the other hand has led other countries of the world in fighting terror groups such as Al Qaeda. Through Saudi, many investigations have been carried out in an effort to freeze organizations and charities that have been known to fund these terror groups (ArabAmericangiving.org Para 6). These two nations have therefore instituted a money transfer control unit that seeks to investigate any money that is transferred to the suspected members and groups. This does not only benefit America and Saudi Arabia but also other far away countries such as Somalia which are Al Qaeda infested.
The relations between these two nations can therefore be said to be two way because they both in their own ways gain from each other. There are many other opportunities for citizens from both countries and if well utilized, everyone stands to benefit. Saudi Arabia plays a crucial role in the economy of the US just like the US does to Saudi Arabia. It can therefore be said that both complement each other in job diversification as well as economic growth.
