The taming of the shrew is a famous early piece of art by William Shakespeare written in the culture of the Native Americans approximately between 1590 and 1592. The writer is known for several great works of art since the 14th century particularly romantic tales; taming of the shrew, however, is a unique and best of his comedy works ever in his career of playwriting. The shrew is one of the actors in the play that Shakespeare forms a basis of the impressive game.
The game is known for the great works of Shakespeare in comedy; the comedy is on a basis of the romantic relationship between two young men Petruchio and Lucentio who meet two sisters in Padua; plot forms along these lines as the romantic teenagers develop an interest to promise each other marriage. The writer brings out several themes in a romantic comedy story when it comes to Bianca and Lucentio's time to marry but have to face the cultural challenge of the big sister to wed first. Binaca's elder sister, Katherine has to be married first; the writer motives and characterization molds character of Petruchio as an optimist. Despite Katherine's unwillingness, he insists on marrying her with selfish intentions while targeting the huge dowry from their wealthy father.
Critical issues in the play entail marriage, teenage relationships, domestication and several other social aspects including parents’ roles and communal life. Dowry and culture dimensions vary in several other communities in American people is among the main elements that the writer brings out in the plot. William Shakespeare himself pens down the plot of the story considering it was not the first literary work of his, employing relevant themes while building characters that bring out critical issues clearly to the readers of the play. The romantic and weddings scenes at the start of the play form a basis of the whole plot that Petruchio begins a battle of sexes that dominate the play as Shakespeare captures readers through comedy (Garcez, 2006).
Gender equity, for instance, is one of the major themes that the writer brings out in the play, there are several questions that it answers with regards to the ideas and culture of the people living in the 16th century. William Shakespeare uses Katherine as she plays the roles of a woman and a man as well in the absence of Petruchio, this undermines the assumptions with regards to the sex of an individual and what the society expects of them. The play recognizes gender only as a social construction over time, and both men and women can perform therefore activities. Shrew's social life of exploration of masculine activities while at the same time bonding with the male depict a different perspective on usual roles of a lady in society.
According to Garcez, (2006), the deceitful and intelligent behavior of Petruchio from the first instance that he insists and marries the shrew to tame her is also an element of behavior. It is a theme that the writer brings out through Petruchio and Katherine's relationship especially after meeting Baptista, Tranio, and Gremio. How Kate agrees with Petruchio while in public is a different picture of when they are alone in private where she is always on his neck depicting public and private behavior in society.
William Shakespeare uses symbols, literary styles, and motifs to bring out fundamental ideas in this piece of artwork through words and hiding the critical issues in society in comedy. The taming of the shrew stands out in rating on comedy plays despite the old composition.
