Although women and men receive an equal education, knowledge and skills of performing particular jobs in U.S, there still exists unequal pay between the women and men. The graduate who has the same skills in the U.S and work in the same job are paid unequally. Women are given lower salary than men who are in the same or similar jobs but have equal educational backgrounds. It is thus advisable that in all the government, businesses and private institutions, job evaluation should be carried out to determine wages and give both women and men the equal pay.
In the U.S, there is a stereotype that assumes that men are successful in leadership positions than women. Interviews done with the CEOs of different organizations and businesses show revealed that men perform better than women in leadership positions. They use this criterion to promote men into leadership positions leaving behind women. The advanced men will take home higher pay than women. This makes women have less pay than men.
Another reason that makes women lack behind in the wages than men is the stereotype that men are superior to women. It shows that when women are employed with men in the same job or organizations, men are paid higher than women as they are considered superior to women.
There is a federal policy that was signed by President Barrack Obama to address the problem of unequal pay in the workplace. The order is known as the executive order. The executive order seeks to fight for equal payment in all the sectors of the economy.
The law that addresses the unequal pay between women and men is the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).This law protects the equality of all employees in different workplaces. It advocates for equal pay between women and men based on their education and experience.
The improved law that addresses the unequal pay between men and women is the Fair Paycheck Act. The act was proposed by the Institute for Women's Policy Research as it deems unfit for the organizations to businesses and organizations to pay unequally even when men and women have the same educations and skills of performing the jobs.
