Job Description: Urban Educator
The urban educator will ensure that there is comprehensive development of programs to be used in schools. The urban educator will also be in charge of coordinating education issues in metropolitan areas, in major towns, and in all cities across the country. Consequently, the urban educator will help the society in making concrete decision on how to improve skills and talents in students in all metropolitan areas, cities and towns. The main vision will be toward development of appropriate curriculum to guarantee development of skills and talents among students. The professional will also recommend appropriate text books to be used in schools.
Tasks
Coordinate learning activities in all metropolitan areas, cities and towns
Make decisions about academic materials suitable for students
Collaborate with other professionals in improving education standards
Conducting research to come up with internationally accepted curriculum
Drafting of reports
Setting guidelines for setting and marking exams
Coordinate and supervise learning activities in all metropolitan areas, cities and towns.
Recommend disciplinary actions for teachers who commit offenses
Improve discipline among students
Work with the director of Curriculum and professional development
Collaborate with Performance and evaluation coordinator in improving education levels
Urban Educator and School Relationships
Initiate and maintain working relationships with teachers, support staff and other important stakeholders
Support school administrators in ensuring that annual education targets are met through progress reports
Participate in school sponsored events
Urban Educator In Support Of Education Satisfaction
Provide direct guidance to students and teachers in the city, metropolitan areas, and in towns
Provide necessary support that can bring success in schools
Qualifications
Master’s degree in regional or urban planning
Certificate of good conduct
Valid driving license
Be a member of a professional organization
Health check-up from a qualified doctor
Experience
A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience, especially in urban schools
A track record of good management skills
Experience in project management, planning, and implementation
Two years experience in computer applications use
A minimum of 2 years in community work

Training
Shortlisted applicants will be required to participate in a mandatory training. The candidates will learn issues concerning accountability model as well as high-stakes testing. Finally, they will be educated on the rules and regulations governing the education sector in the metropolitan areas, cities, and towns.
