The first important concept I have learned from this course is the effects of technology in the media industry. The evolution of media industry is subject to the various technological advancements. The impact of technology on the mass media industry is clear and profound in the course. The effect of technology on mass media is evident on the aspects of print media and the electronic media communication. The effect of technology has influenced greatly the rate and speed of transmission of information.
The second concept is how media leads to misrepresentation of facts and information to the public. The mass media tends to misrepresent information in order to attract the attention of the public. Misrepresentation of information in the mass media results from loss of track in the goals of the journalists and media stations. This failure to the mass media since the goals and objectives should be to provide accurate and reliable information to the public.
The third concept involves the legal matters and regulations governing the media industry. The course enabled me understand various policies and regulations to regulate both the content and scope of information to be presented to the public. This enabled me understand various standards governing the sensitivity of the information to be presented to the public.
In my opinion, learning affects me in a number of ways. Learning influence the way I behave on my daily activities. The concepts I learn on daily basis influence how I handle various activities in life. The learning process also creates some grounds of conflict in my daily life because some concepts tend to contradict with my personal and religious beliefs in life. Learning also influence the way I perform my daily roles and duties due to the introduction of new information and knowledge on a daily basis.
