Constructive eating practices are essential for the betterment of one’s health. In fact, a lack thereof leads to poor fitness and exposes one to the vulnerabilities of disease attack. As a result, there is a need to be cautious of feeding practices to secure proper well-being. Over the past week, I have been monitoring my feeding patterns to get feedback on my consumption practices. After keen analysis of what I had been consuming in the last few days, I have noted the need to reevaluate my food consumption patterns. This is largely attributed to the fact that multiple factors contributed to the decisions I made on what to have for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Precisely, I lack a food schedule to monitor nutrients intake for maintenance of proper health. In multiple instances, some of my choices were prompted by the environment and cultural consumption. Finally, time was a major factor in the inconsistency of my feeding patterns. For a fact, nutritious feeding schedules are essential in the maintenance of proper health.
According to Satter, breakfast is an essential meal as it determines our overall alertness every day (142). As such, I made it my priority to consume a healthy meal every morning by trying to balance the nutritious intake. Nonetheless, I was unsuccessful in multiple occasions due to cravings. For instance, instead of taking a healthy meal, I was more inclined to consuming what was most appropriate at that time. Additionally, cost factored frequently in the decisions I made about the foods to consume. Because I am a student and mostly on a tight budget, I had to compromise healthy eating for cheaper meals. These entailed the junk foods and other unhealthy meals. I lacked a sugar regulation mechanism since I blindly consumed chocolates and other sugary materials as a snack. It is worth noting that I tried my best to consume a fruit each day and in case I was unable to, I substituted it with healthy fruit juice.
In spite of the efforts I made to secure healthy feeding patterns in the previous week, it is worth mentioning that the overall plan was flawed. Precisely, nearly sixty percent of the meals I consumed had unbalanced nutrients. This is largely accredited to the fact that most of these foods were junk and quite unhealthy. Additionally, I lacked a feeding schedule. This made it impossible to regulate what I decided to eat since most of the decisions I made were rather impulsive and outthought. Precisely, food was rarely in my mind before I took meals leading me into making rush decisions while at the restaurants. Arguably, I had most of the meals in restaurants since I barely had the time to prepare a decent meal. As such, I was coaxed into consuming most of the meals I opted to take. Moreover, cravings played a major role in the determination of what I was to consume.
Conclusively, time, financial constraints, cultural habits and the environment contributed to my flawed feeding patterns. I noted that food is not always in my mind before I make a decision on what to eat. In simple terms, I am an impulsive consumer. Taking this assignment created some enlightenment on the need to maintain a proper feeding schedule as a lack thereof compromises one’s wellbeing. If I did not take this assignment, I would have been in the dark about my flawed consumption patterns. I would have advanced in consuming what is most appropriate at the moment instead of proper feeding. Food is essential to our body systems and there is a need to maintain a proper feeding schedule.
