The French Revolution was a period when France underwent drastic political and socioeconomic changes. The period lasted for a decade from 1789 until 1799. The breakdown of power and many other reasons led to the far-reaching French revolution. The bourgeoisies and landowning classes were the rulers of France during the French revolution. However, the causes of French revolution are perplexed and complex and yet understanding by historians is required to get to the cause of revolution. Cultural, economic, social, financial, and political causes led to the French revolution. For example, peasants were forced to pay heavy taxation and the only source of food for French people was bread. Over the increased prices of the basic commodity, harsh conditions were faced by peasants. Another example which caused French revolution is the social inequality faced by its citizens. Few of the population earned enough to support the family while others were forced to work extra as paid laborers. Peasants were forced and liable to pay heavy taxes as compared to others (Agarwal).
The French Revolution had a major influence on Europe and new world. As a result of the French Revolution, France lost many of countrymen and emigrants who left France for the sake of their safety. The other neighboring countries faced problems in handling French immigrants from different socioeconomic backgrounds. France conquered Belgium in the period of French Revolution. The French colonies faced slave uprising and many other revolutions within the French Revolution (“French Revolution”). The Political Culture of the French Revolution proved to be challenging, drafting the French Revolution addressed a constitution, declaration of rights of man, and of the citizen. Harsh economic times were witnessed by the colonies of France and challenges were faced. French Revolution controlled the terror of war and other failure reforms of France. After the massive political corruption, the reign of terror, and financial crisis, French Revolution ended, and France was led by Napoleon Bonaparte on 9 August 1799.
