- Acute abdominal pain that can be cause by numerous reasons. One of which is caused by alcohol as with the case of the patient.
- Patient admits to drinking alcohol daily on an average of one glass but often exceed to up to five glasses. This can already constitute to alcoholism because patient makes it a daily habit.
- Alcoholism gastritis usually manifests along the age of the patient, or during adulthood because this is the time when the lining of the stomach becomes thin that alcohol and some medications can already damage the linings .
- As a result, the lining of the stomach will bleed thereby causing the black stool, acute or chronic abdominal pain, nausea, pain not relieved from eating and loss of appetite .
- Patient require behavior modification but first patient should acknowledge that there is something wrong with his behavior so he can embrace the necessary change. If you can recall, patient refuse to admit that there is something unhealthy with his health behavior.
- Patient is also advised to Analgesic Medication to manage pain. The education includes not only prescribing the medication and discussing the administration. It also requires teaching the patient of the harm and benefits of the analgesic.
- Since it has been identified that it was alcohol that is causing the patient’s symptoms, then it is advised that patient must be prevented from consuming the substance to relieve the signs and symptoms .
