Nowadays the world has come to the point when it can’t further ignore problems of the environment change and global warming in particular. This issue has a great effect on our world leading to an increase in natural disasters number, destruction of numerous ecosystems worldwide and weather change in general. Therefore, in order to solve this problem, people have, on the one hand, to start using present resources more efficiently and, on the other hand, try to differentiate current energy sources.
First of all, the cruel deforestation should be stopped as it leads to a biodiversity reduction and the greenhouse effect due to lower volumes of photosynthesis. The efforts should be focused on recycling rather than on chopping. On the other hand, considering the increase in urbanization, cities may lack space for further expansion. In addition, there may also come out problems because of wood amount lack.
Secondly, it would be wise to increase the use of solar energy and electric cars. This would greatly eliminate gas emissions and the use of traditional fuel respectively. Moreover, solar energy is without any prejudice to the environment and has an inexhaustible source – the Sun. Unfortunately such technologies are still very expensive. What is more, solar energy is quite limited since solar batteries don’t function after the sunset. This type of energy is also subject to seasonality in the mid-latitudes and mismatch periods of power generation and energy needs.
Thirdly, there is a great potential of using nuclear power. Nuclear stations do not only require little raw material, but also are quite eco-friendly since their carbon emissions are very low. However, nuclear stations possess potential threat to the environment due to various accidents and wastes disposal usually resulting in hazardous industrial and ecological disasters. In addition, the maintenance of nuclear stations is quite expensive and may be priced out of reach for some countries.
So, the issue of global warming may and should be solved. Our planet is desperately trying to make people change their behavior. That is why only common efforts and co-operation can solve the problem of global warming and the safe the planet for future generations.
