Newsweek is a paper that has recently conducted much research concerning the conflicts in communication. Google and Verizon have been rivals due to the different policies which the companies are run by. When a deal for an alliance between the two was made, it awakened much debate on media source conflicts. Zittrain, however, is convinced that Google business interests align nicely with an openness (Brill, 2010). The reaction of other web warriors is diverse because the media have rules to abide by when delivering to the public. Gigi, B. Sohn the leader of public knowledge whose mission is ‘ to defend citizen rights in emerging digital cultures’, poses questions that, what happens when corporations are allowed to cooperate without clear, enforceable rules?’ The media is obliged to some rules, which might be distinctly tipulated, and some argue about the existence of some policies (Zittrain, 2008). Dow Jones says in an email that there is no formal policy about what should be disclosed when quoting academics. In the Newsweek, the issue of conflicts has generated questions on Strain's academics, and his inability to reveal any conflict that may occur due to the alliance formed. Academics play a vital role in the media, especially with regards to changes that have occurred in history. Doctors and researchers are writing about drugs despite the conflicts in media sources. Google promotes their websites because some of their funding is from healthcare. The changes in digital communication have made it central to our lives such that public policy affects the evolution of media (Braman, 2004). The function of alerting the public about potential conflicts within the sources does not have a clear policy related to it. In communication, it is important to investigate about conflict, and only deliver it to the public when they feel it is authorized. Rill Emily argues that journalist should pay attention to the question of the relationship between technology cooperation and the academic they support. They should not shy off from interviewing donors and shareholders on the company’s financial status. After all, the work of a journalist is to avail such vital information to the public.
