Interview
Weijia,a girl who comes from Beijing China, brave but stubborn, loves fashion and her family so much. The interview will discuss what kind of person Weijia is, her likings, plans for future and views of life.
Weijia:Hi,Grace!
Grace:Do you like NYC?
Weijia:I didn't have too much feeling about that because NYC is rather similar to Beijing.
Grace:I remember that you come from Beijing. Do you like Beijing?
Weijia:Yes, absolutely, I like my hometown, but the only thing is air pollution.
Grace: So, what’s the biggest difference between NYC and Beijing, in your opinion?
Weijia: Beijing is cleaner than NYC. There aren’t homeless and mice.
Grace: If you have the choice, which city would you choose for living in the future?
Weijia: I would like to stay in an easeful city. I have lived in a big city since I was born; but, I have always felt like I lack something in my life. That`s why both are not the best choices to live in for me.
Grace:I knew you wanted to study fashion design, but it is a hard job to do. I assumed you like an easeful life, but why did you choose this occupation?
Weijia: I developed liking to fashion design when I was a kid. So this job is definitely my dream job. I’m planning to do fashion until I am thirty; after thirty, I will find a comfortable place to teach others.
Grace:So, you mean the work is very stressful, correct? What do you want to teach? In my opinion, there are big differences between teaching and doing fashion design.
Weijia:Drawing – this is what I would like to teach! I like drawing, so would never feel tired and will never experience stresses.
Grace:Why do you love fashion design? When did you first get acquainted to it?
Weijia:It was when I was about 7 years old. Since then, I have never stopped thinking about becoming a fashion designer. However, the older I become, the more I think that no balance between career and family life is possible. Working in fashion industry requires much efforts and time. This might affect my private life. That is why teaching is my plan B after I get older.
Grace:Please clarify, what is more important for you – career or family?
Weijia:Career is more important when we are young. The perfect option is to own a personal enterprise.
Grace: Why do you have this kind of thinking? Were you influenced by someone, perhaps your mother?
Weijia:No, it is my personal opinion. I believe working on somebody else does not bring happiness and brings much dependence on others. I prefer being independent rather than being others` puppet and losing my sense of security. I want to be a master of my life.
Grace:If you become a famous designer, will you still have plans on becoming a teacher?
Weijia:Well, not I start hesitating, but I am strongly convinced to follow my plan.
Grace: Thank you. The next question is: do you think you are the rational or sentimental kind of person?
Weijia:I think I am a reasonable one. I never get anger on others.
Grace:Maybe it is just because you are a nice person. Can you give me an example proving that?
Weijia:Let me think I would like to turn a big problem into a small one and a little one into nothing. I agree, sometimes I can be very angry, but always strive to avoid being angry. To achieve this I analyze things first and then decide what to do.
Grace:Do you have such moments when you are getting confused?
Weijia:Not so much, I am very manful and self-confident.
Grace:This means, you never doubt your decisions? Do your parents always agree with you?
Weijia:I believe if we want to stay happy, we must be satisfied with what we get from our deeds. My parents always support me and wish me very best.
Grace: When you chase your dream, what kind of obstacle do you meet? How can you overcome them?
Weijia:Let me tell an example. Not so long time ago, I had to pass my College entrance exams. To successfully pass them, I studied non-stop for months. I literally lived in the library, woke up at 6 AM and stayed awaken till 11:30 PM every day. Of course, I was completely exhausted after this period of my life, lost weight, but, in the end, I made a huge progress which allowed me to enter the College.
Grace:Did you get help from others?
Weijia:Yes, my teachers helped me a lot. Perhaps, they see constant improvements in me and wanted to help me more.
Grace:What did that period mean for you? Did you feel happy?
Weijia:I felt very happy because I was chasing my dream every moment of that period.
Grace:What is your final goal for fashion industry?
Weijia:I am not sure, but I hope I can do something that can positively influence people.
Grace:What do you expect for yourself?
Weijia:I want to work in a luxury women`s clothes brand. For the future, I hope I can have constant clientele and just work for them.
Grace: For right now, which clothes brand do you like most?
Weijia: I adore Dior, especially the formal dress because I really like clothes shapes Dior offers.
Grace:Do you want to imitate this style?
Weijia:No, I want to create my own style.
Grace:What will you do for the future? Are there any fashion patterns on your mind?
Weijia:I prefer simple style. I believe fashion shall remain classics. Fashion passes, style remains.
Grace: I remember you have a boyfriend. Does he support your dream?
Weijia: Yes, he does. He shares my plans as well.
Grace:Does he minds you will be very busy in the future?
Weijia:Maybe we will argue about this later, but now we are happy, and his love, as well as mine, is true.
Grace: Were you given a choice – either fashion or your boyfriend, what would you choose?
Weijia:I wish I never had such a choice. They both are very important for me. I pictured myself as a fashion designer when I was 5 years old. I really cherish the opportunities that I have now, and don`t want to lose them. My boyfriend I could not find a better person for me. He is definitely the one and only.
Grace: Thank you, Weijia. Hope you will become a person you want to.
