The government has a moral duty to offer free medical services to its citizens regardless of their status. Healthcare should be considered a right to every person in our country since so many people are not financially stable for them to afford medical services. Many lives are lost each and every year as citizens cannot afford to pay for medical services. With free medical services, the high mortality rate will be dealt with completely. Free medical care will also decrease the infant mortality rate as it has been reported that many children are dying due to lack of medical services because their parents cannot afford it. Health care has become unaffordable because it is too expensive with insurance premiums rising every day and this has left many people uninsured. Many lives are at stake due to the inability to pay medical bills. Many citizens are uninsured due to poverty, joblessness and increase in insurance premiums for medical covers.
Through free healthcare, individuals will get access to quality and comprehensive healthcare, (Bond &Bond, 94). Medical professionals have been wasting time following insurance procedures for example which tests to be taken and this has led to loss of live, through free medical services, they will focus on treating patients. It will also encourage patients to seek medical help and reduce mortality rate for many patients fear seeking medical attention due to lack of money and insurance covers to cater for their medical bills.
The government should guarantee free access to healthcare in order to help patients with pre-existing conditions get medical help. Most patients have been staying in their homes with these conditions because of the inability to pay for the services and if the government offers them free healthcare, they will receive treatment. The government should focus on guaranteeing all individuals free medical care regardless of their social or economic status. Canada is a good example of a country that offers free healthcare to its citizens and this has reduced the mortality rate especially in children. Everyone is enjoying the services regardless of their status and they can access medical check ups anytime they want because they do not have to part with money
