In our fast-paced society, hospitality may appear to be the exception rather than the rule it should be. Unfortunately, in some venues, social climbing does not require genuine kindness and concern for others; similarly, for many people, hospitality as a personality trait might indicate weakness. My definition of hospitality, in a professional sense, is the business of the providence of services and information in the highest form of humility; namely, for other individuals, regardless of their response in kind. In this professional sense, a person is paid to serve others, and can emulate a form of hospitality; however, it is a unique gift to possess genuine kindness which is a trait of true hospitality, because this gift is beyond price, and seeks only to treat others with this form of hospitality. Therefore, hospitality not only is the providence of great servitude to others in a business or professional setting, but also is genuine kindness which seeks nothing in return but to exist.
I consider myself an individual who possesses the quality and gift of genuine kindness, and a sense of healthy self-esteem. Therefore, my kindness is not a weakness, but comes from my sense of character and integrity. I seek to serve as a member of the faculty of hospitality management, and will be able to fulfill duties in such a position. The reason why I know that I will work well with the faculty of hospitality management is because it seems a part of my genetic ability to consider other individual’s thoughts and feelings, and treat them as I would like to be treated. These principles in my life are inflexible and unchangeable. I not only consider others, but also sense how others feel, and through the empathy I naturally possess, might possibly suggest solutions, and set an ideal example concerning the way to act as a public servant to others, if allowed to do so.
All in all, hospitality is not only a business or professional term concerning kindness in the providence of services, but also is a valuable gift I possess, along with the quality of empathy balanced by healthy self-esteem for myself and others. I would be a valuable addition to the faculty of hospitality management, and thank you for your consideration.
