In a way, online dating has become a McDonaldized form of dating especially for the young people in the society. It has presented a manner in which the young can effectively hangout and possibly "hookup" without the hustles and tussles often involved in searching for a mate. This means that the concept of dating has been highly streamlined with the internet. Thanks to the online dating sites such as match.com, hundreds of couples have been brought together. The first component of online dating as a McDonaldization is efficiency. Here, within just a single click of a computer button, an individual can find the right partner for him within his preferred environs. Secondly is calculability. One can find just the right partner that matches his prescriptions as required. Lastly is the concept of predictability. This means that no matter the place that an individual goes, he/she is capable of locating his match.
How modern farming is McDonaldized
The manner in which the agriculture sector is developing in relation to McDonaldization of virtually everything is very interesting. It has notably kept the agricultural markets very competitive. The concept has encouraged the practice of sustainable farming in the different areas that it is practicable. On the concept of predictability, farmers can currently predict the value of their produce as such effectively plan for their populations. On calculability, determining the required input is essential for the productions. Lastly, agricultural activities have been efficient thus leading to increased output.
According to Ritzer, how is the Holocaust a product of rationality?
According to Ritzer, it wasn’t much about rationality causing the holocaust but its perceived inability to prevent the occurrence of millions of death through the dehumanization of people in such mechanical manners. In the history of mankind, no such crime that claimed the lives of several individuals has ever been experienced. As a product of rationality, the organization and principalities of the Holocaust were centered on the former. As a result, Ritzer (2004) asserts that it had a deep reliance on the bureaucratic nature of the German machines. As a rational product, it did not take into consideration and at the same time ashamed every associated equivalent of a pre-modern society. Therefore, they were enormously exposed as primitive, ineffective and also wasteful. No doubt exists that the Holocaust is sole and does not have any massacre of a similar comparison to it. The holocaust is thus responsible for denying the basic humanity expected of a society. (The "McDonaldization" of Society, 2015)
Advantages of McDonaldization to consumers according to Ritzer.
Ritzer presents the advantages that consumers can get from McDonaldization. On the first account, he mentions the idea of convenience by asserting that large amounts of commodity can be quickly delivered to the client. As a result, the customers are capable of quantifying how much of a commodity they would get to the amount of pay that they offer. The second advantage is that there is an increased efficiency that goes into the production of commodities on a worldwide scale. This culminates to minimal wastage of time in the entire process. For the customer, on the other hand, this would mean the minimal time that is taken to catapult from being hungry to being full. The last advantage of McDonaldization is the supposed standardization that comes with it. As a result, one would be contented that they would get the same product anywhere that they go.
