Shield, in his article on Wall Street Journal, believed that technological advancement can be blamed for the shift from regular television to YouTube. The author describes how a large part of the population was skeptical about the ability of any internet based channel to deliver value. It is noted that this drift has been reversed, and the internet acts as a central point for both entertainment and news. The new generation played a key role in influencing the older ones to join into the migration towards internet based services.
Michael believes most people moved towards the net due to economic reasons. He states the fact that in order to get good entertainment from the television, on is compelled to spend more, an amount that is much lower, if not non-existing over the internet. The writer believes that technology has transformed the way news and entertainment is packaged.
