Introduction
Human resource management is an essential part of each organizational process. No one organization can successfully exist without such management as it contains the main approaches, techniques, systems and policies that will help to modify and influence the behaviour of the workers, their attitude toward their job and their proficiency in the work field.
Managing Human Resources
The first chapter of the book tells us that most managers fail to understand that material resources such as invested money, equipment and facilities do not play the integral role in the managing the company (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2016). In fact, human resources management offers much wider possibility for a success as it determines the conditions of recruiting, the conditions of salaries, all the possible vocational or other training, the ways of evaluation and assessment of the employees. All these things result in managers having a full control over the motivation of their employees and their quality of work. That is why the most successful companies do not only invest their money into the new production technologies or better equipment, but also in various staff trainings and employee practices.
The main HRM practices are supposed to improve the motivation and efforts of the employees of the company which will improve the performance of the company, the increasing of the profit and the quality of the final product. These practices are:
analysis of the work conditions and designing a better environment for a workplace
analysis of the recruiting details, setting the goals and obligatory features for new recruits
establishment of strict rules for selection of the employees
creating of various training and vocational programs that would develop a much stronger interest in the job field and improve the quality of work
modifying the relationships between the employees by conducting various team building activities in order to create an amiable atmosphere.
Trends in Human Resource Management
The second chapter reveals us the fact that human resource management is greatly affected by a labor market (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2016). In a modern world, the labor market becomes more and more culturally and ethnically diverse. That is why it is now much harder for a company to choose between people of different cultures, ages and ethnic alignments.
At the conclusion we must say that the first chapter also reveals the main ways of human resource management contributions to the performance of the company, the main duties and obligations of the HRM department and identifies all the necessary skills and abilities for require for HR management. The second chapter focuses on the labor force situation, identifies the main area of human resource management influence and defines the effective strategies that may be used by the HRM department.
