The report is a research proposal to my friend, Abdul, who wants to have a one-month vacation. I offer Abdul to spend these thirty days in Vancouver. This paper describes the main decisions to be taken (accommodation, for instance), give supporting arguments to convince Abdul that Vancouver is a good tourists’ destination, and introduce the chief features such as costs and timing.
Vancouver is one of the most developed cities in Canada, which is also a popular travelers’ destination point. This city contains the features of a serene location for a calm revitalizing vacation as well as opportunities to spend all thirty days doing different interesting activities. To find out the information for this research proposal, online sites were visited and the help of a research subject expert, Alexis Baran, of the Inside Vancouver was used. Due to these research methods, some new information appeared to help Abdul make up his decisions.
In fact, it is necessary to express gratitude to the website Inside Vancouver and its authors, who are big experts in a sphere of tourism (especially, Vancouver vacations) was considerably large. My acknowledgments to Alexis Baran, who conceived that Vancouver is really an interesting city with a number of different diverse events and activities.
However, the information about the vacation and some recommendations to Abdul to follow in order to make his one-month vacation comfortable and exciting. In fact, there is also a great majority of activities for Abdul to choose from; in these terms, he is free to ask me for more information, which I am ready to submit immediately.
I also offer Abdul my house to be his accommodation as well as me to be his guide. Taking into account that Abdul has never been to Canada before, I am ready to spend all thirty days (or any amount of time, as it is convenient to my friend) helping him organize his vacation.
Executive summary
This paper is the research proposal for my friend Abdul who is making a decision on his one-month vacation. The report is to describe the vacation in Vancouver, which I offer to Abdul as an appropriate variant for his holiday.
The delivered research offers Abdul the necessary information, divided into appropriate sections. The first one, which is Background, introduces the main issues to be resolved. In terms of this research, the main decision to make is to choose the accommodation. The section Discussion describes useful information and a table of pros and cons of apparent solutions. These solutions are to live in my house with me and my family or to stay in a hotel. The section Recommendations will help Abdul to get ready for his trip and make him aware of some special features of Vancouver vacation. Finally, the section Costs and timing is a part of the research which is to offer some integral precise details of the future holiday.
These are the exemplary recommendations for Abdul (the precise recommendations with explanation are listed in the appropriate section):
take some personal hygiene items;
prepare some small change (in dollars) for tips;
prepare small change or special tokens to use a public phone or be able to use his self-phone in another country;
learn some key phrases and have a pocket phrasebook (French);
pre-summarize his money and leave some extra cash.

The main point of the research is to convince my friend Abdul to choose Vancouver as his final destination as well as give him recommendations on how to organize his one-month vacation. As his friend, I offer him my help in creating the proper conditions of his staying in Canada.
One of the most relevant issues if the decision on accommodation. The first way is to accept my invitation and stay with me for this month and the second is to stay at any of the Vancouver’s hotels. In fact, there are both advantages and disadvantages in both of the variants. Still, even though the cons of staying in my house overwhelm the equal cons of renting a room in the hotel, it is up to Abdul whether he will feel comfortable living with the whole family of his friend (me). I also offer Abdul my help as a guide, who will show him all the Vancouver’s interesting places to make the vacation more exciting.
Discussion
The results of the research
While doing the research, it was found out that Vancouver is a place, where there is something to do. This city offers a quite wide variety of opportunities so that all the thirty days of a one-month vacation can be filled with different activities. Due to a mix of convenient accommodation and a number of entertainment opportunities, Vancouver is supposed to be one of the most major tourists’ destinations ("Vancouver - Local Travel Information and City Guide", 2016).
In fact, except for all the information, commonly known about the city, it is very interesting that Vancouver is a dynamic location, where a lot of things happen. According to research subject expert Alexis Baran of Inside Vancouver, there is also a number of events to visit. This new information about Vancouver life and entertainment can influence Abdul’s decision to spend his time in this city ("Alexis Baran", 2016).
In fact, one more relevant fact I have found out during the research is the price for Vancouver hotels. In the city where there are always a lot of tourists, accommodation is on a high level. Actually, this city has a great number of places, where the foreigners can stay for a long time. Even though hotels are traditionally considered one of such localities, the price is not very convenient for those, who is planning to have a month between check-in and check-out. For example, one of the most appreciated hotels, Opus Hotel, names an average cost $439 per night ("Vancouver Hotel Rooms | OPUS Vancouver | Luxury Hotel in Vancouver", 2016). In fact, one of the cheapest offers (still, comfortable enough to live there for thirty days), by Howard Johnson Inn, is $62 per night ("Howard Johnson Inn and Suites by Vancouver Mall - Vancouver | Venere.com", 2016). In these terms, my friend Abdul will have to spend at least $1800 (or in a case with an expensive hotel, more than $10000). Moreover, these prices do not include meals. On the assumption of such prices, it would be easier for my friend to choose between my home and hotel.
Arguments to support/reject the decision
The main choice my friend Abdul is going to face is the decision on the place of living. The two possible way are to choose any of Vancouver’s hotels as the accommodation or accept my invitation and stay with me and my family.
In fact, the results of the comparison leave the question opened until Abdul will decide whether he feels convenient living a month with his friend’s family. Additionally, the
appearance of pets can distract him from choosing my home as his accommodation. However, the most considerable difference, which definitely makes the first variant more attractive is the price.
Recommendations
As Vancouver is situated in the northern part of Canada and is close to both the ocean and the mountains, Abdul has to select closes and other useful equipment carefully;
As Abdul travels for one month, some personal hygiene items (not obligatory including towels or shampoo, as these are available at any accommodation);
If Abdul chooses to stay at the hotel, it is necessary to prepare some small change (in dollars) for tips (or bigger amount of cash if the hotel does not accept paying by check or by card);
I will meet Abdul at the airport, but if any force majeure appears to happen, we will have to get in touch. In these terms, Abdul needs to prepare small change or special tokens to use public phone or be able to use his self-phone in another country;
Vancouver is a city where most of the people speak French as their prior language, so Abdul is strongly recommended to learn some key phrases and have a pocket phrasebook;
The price of accommodation and entertainment, even though Vancouver is a tourists’ city, is quite high, so that my friend Abdul is offered to pre-summarize his money and leave some extra cash.
