Dear Editor,
Community is under the threat! The access to clean water can become limited. It is high time to make some actions towards helping of our community. This is not a joke and it is not even a secret that the only river which leads to the town is being constantly polluted by the plastic factory. People will no longer be able to get as clean water as before from their taps. It is necessary to take some measures in order to help them and me and you. It is not a problem of our town only, it touches upon everyone who works or has family here. We do not want to become a town which will have a limited access towards the drinking water just because someone wants to make more money in their lifetime than it is possible for them to spend. I have already talked to the municipal government about this issue. However, it seems to me that they are not concerned at all. They have showed me some paperwork which indicated that they have provided the factory with necessary filters to prevent it. However, it does not seem to be legit. After a thorough investigation by becoming an undercover worker of the factory, I have figured out that factory is still deposing the chemical waste directly into the river which is the only source of water in the area.
The money which was received from the government for the filters has been simply used for different purposes. A factory has bought 10 new trucks that cost over $50,000. Right? Who needs fresh water, if you can just expand the business? I guess that is the way John Smith, the owner of the factory feels. Just like a typical businessman he worries less about people and more about the possible income in the industry.
This is a very worrisome situation for our town and the issue of lack of fresh water should be addressed immediately in case we are still willing to have a healthy future in our town. I can see the only solution is the city needs to install the filters on its own. Also, they need to do monthly check ups at the factory until it becomes a routine for the company head that he is being watched and he should be taking care not only of his pocket.
People in the community should create initiatives where they will be willing to become activists of the clean water movement. I can become a leader of this organization. We will be controlling the reality between the words and the actions of people who are in charge of all of those things. People need to understand that it is a serious issues that should be addressed by the whole community. It is the only way that the head of the factory is going to understand
the scale of the problem that he has caused to the environment of our home town in particular.
I hope that my letter was as informative as possible. Please, let me know in case any concerns arise regarding the current situation. I will be willing to provide any evidence that I possess at the moment that may benefit the situation. I think that you as a part of a very respected newspaper can make a difference by publishing material regarding the issue of lack of drinking water. Please, kindly let me know in case the further questions concerning this information may arise, I will be willing to help more. I have more interesting information regarding this issue, please, let me know how you can meet me and when I can share with you the extra information that I have about the current states of affairs in this area. I would gladly appreciate our cooperation, because I believe that only together we can make a difference and make this world to be a better place to live in.
Best regards,
Ken Miller
