Racism has existed since long back. Many authors have given differing views concerning racism since its initiations to its status in society. Jim (2007) notes that, racism occurs in different ways in society so that it significantly affect the society. The globe has become one small village and moving from one country to another has become easier nowadays. However, racist attitudes that some people in different regions across the globe hold have affected the interaction among people of different colors, ethnic backgrounds, and languages among other aspects . Based in this argument, it is clear that the author is well informed in matter pertaining to racism in the way they occur and the effect that they have in society. Essentially, this piece of literature intends to present the author’s view regarding inefficiencies created by racism in the global society.
Etienne (1996) argues against the idea of racism, which is still evident today in the streets of many cities and various areas of the world. The writer noted that many nations have not healed from this traumatic disease of racism since its occurrence is evident today. Many factors are attributable to the prevalence of racism in certain places in the globe. Notably, people have different attitudes and opinions regarding people of a particular color, race, or origin. For this reason, they do not want to be associated with them at the workplace, in the residential places, and in various other areas . Based on the argument from this piece of literature, it is clear that we cannot talk of a racism free society since we see it happening today in many ways. For instance, some corporations in particular countries do not like to employ well-qualified people simply because of their color or ethnic background. Still, it is difficult for some people to stay in the company of people of a different race simply because they do not match the color of their nationality.
This implies that these people still uphold the idea of racism since they have not accepted the human race as a single race that should not be divided on the lines of color, ethnic background, cultural background, and language. Jim (2007) argues that it is high time we south to root out the sediments of the racist attitude that has been a snare to humanity so that we do not appreciate one another on the bases of a single human race. This piece of argument in the work of the author indicates that it is necessary to develop common concern for humanity by all people regardless of their color, language, social status, and ethnic background . As such, we should live in a society that upholds the dignity of humanity regardless of color and otherwise differences.
