New technical inventions gave possibilities for female factory workers therefore an employment in Lowell's mill can be regarded as a way of training and education. I would rather have taken a job in Lowell's mill because I can consider such a job in a textile manufacture as a way to assist the family. It helps to support the family budget, sending money home. Female workers of the manufactures have found a new sense of solidarity with their peers, also it was possible to get a new female identity, which was no less important than economic independence. Employment led to the solidarity of female workers is manifested in protests against wage cuts and tougher working conditions. This can be considered as an advantage because solidarity to help come up with a demand to raise wages and shorten the working day. This can be perceived as something natural in a difficult personal situation, as a vital necessity, the desire to ensure a decent life for family and their children. The behavior of girls in Lowell's mill significantly different from their sisters-provincials who lived in the conditions of preservation of patriarchal traditions, highly regulated codes of conduct. Typically, 20-year-old girls preferred to get married, thus becoming once again dependent on men, and did not have opportunities to apply their knowledge in practice.
The disadvantages are unfairly low wages compared to men, low level of education, financial weakness, the lack of social ties. It was impossible to have a career because girl could not have a well-paid position which requires higher skills in manufacturing operations. In 1815, social stereotypes and norms have not allowed women to get a good education or job. Also factory production led to separation of the girls and their families. In the future, the young girl would be difficult to combine family obligations with long hours of work at the factory, even if the salary is higher.
