Summary
Transition management refers to the coordination, planning, and implementation process to restructure the current portfolio. It relates to the change management of the organization in which successful plans are implemented to bring a big change in the existing structure of the organization. The transition process varies from organization to organization as the difference like work and the current structure of business. If management is required to bring overall change in the organization, it has to focus on a simple procedure to bring small changes in the current operations of the business (Bridges 154). A successful transition is the combined change within all the areas of business operations such as marketing, vendor and customer management, risk management, and relationship management. The significant focus on the transition can be seen in the relationship management that is controlled and managed by the Human Resource (HR) department of the organization. Also, it is necessary for all organizations that are operating in a global environment. They require change readiness in their operational management to gain a competitive advantage in the international market. It should be noted that it is helpful for developing a career in the field of management where the talent is attributed to the successful change within the organization (Petch 141). The simplest structure for the change management is to introduce few changes in the existing structure of business operations. The readiness of change is the synonym of transition management that explains the success depends on the changes for the future. The important factor in the overall process of transition management is the change readiness that allows an organization to compete in the global market. The process requires proper and effective planning that should be followed to bring a successful change in the existing environment of business. It is also mandatory for the practitioners to prepare a plan for this purpose and make efforts for the implementation within the organization to obtain short-term and long-term objectives.
Transition Plan
The planning for a transition has significance in the management so there should be a proper plan that can be implemented in the future to gain a competitive advantage over others. The plan is prepared that fits all types of organization that require competing in the global environment.
It should be noted that the strategies mentioned in Table 1 are general that can be applied in any organization. However, there might be changes in the time and resources that depend on the nature of a business and the environment in which the organization operates.
Greatest Personal Challenge
The major challenge is the education, knowledge, and training that will be required in understanding the existing culture of the organization and its operational activities. However, it can be resolved by analyzing all the external factors and risks associated with the organization’s business. Also, it is easy to mitigate the personal challenge by coordinating and communicating with the professionals and experts working within and outside the organization. In short, it is predicted that the challenge will not create hurdles that may affect the career development opportunities in this field of management (Petch 51).
Greatest Organizational Challenge
The organizational challenges cannot be determined at this level, but there are some risks that are considered as a big challenge in any organization. The main challenge of the organization is a competition that can affect the existing plan. The strategies of competitors can put a direct impact on the transition plan so it is recommended that one should keep an eye on the competitors’ strategies and prepare counter strategies (Petch 64).
Leadership Management
The main task is to manage the leadership structure of the organization. The common leadership structure of an organization comprises of upper management that is entitled to take decisions. Also, the implementation process starts with the upper management who is responsible for dedicating responsibilities to the departments. The department managers then assign respective tasks to subordinates. The hierarchy mentioned is applicable for the simplest structure of the organization but in a case of need the transition is possible by managing and controlling the overall implementation process effectively (Petch 125).
Benefits after Successful Implementation
There are several benefits that can be achieved by the organization on the successful implementation of the overall transition process. Some major benefits are engaging a large number of audiences, increasing sales volume, reducing costs and expenses, gain competitive advantage and expansion of business in the global market (Petch 187).
Determination of Benefits
The evaluation and assessment of the benefits are essential to determine the success of an organization. The benefits that are associated with the transition plan can be achieved only if there are regular checks and balances to assess whether the process is moving in the design direction or there is a need to make changes. The determination of benefits will allow an organization to prepare future strategies that can provide long-term benefits to the organization. However, there should be leverage or gap for the required changes so that the benefits expected from the transition can be achieved (Petch 148).
Sustainability in Transition
Reliability and sustainability is an important factor that is essential in the transition process as the changes are required at any stage within the routine operations of business. The regular or periodic changes are necessary to manage and control the overall operational management of business. It can be done by assessing the performance of previously prepared strategies and making the new plan for the future (Petch 96).
Conclusion
The transition plan is prepared without focusing on the particular organization, but it is relevant for all type of organization. The main objective of the paper is fulfilled that is to provide a suitable transition plan or process that can be used by the professionals and practitioners for the achievement of the prepared goals and career development. The benefits of the strategies can be achieved by analyzing some external factors that put a direct impact on the transition process of an organization. It is essential to introduce new things within the existing organizational structure that fit to the organizational culture.
