MAcc program (Master in Accounting at University of Oregon)
Fall 2016
Getting into MAcc program will be one of the important milestones in my life. I believe that MAcc will improve my life not only academically and personally, but also professionally. It will allow me to gain specific knowledge that will benefit for my future career (Pacurari, n.d.). Getting into MBA program will allow me to be more motivated and to have certain expectations (Codruta, n.d.). First, I believe that I can develop analytical skills and the ability to think more deeply in a master program. For example, I will be more professional in terms of accuracy, speed and knowledge compared to those students who only graduated from bachelor degrees in accounting. Besides, I can improve the variety of abilities such as analyzing causes and effects, conditions and establishment of hypothesis, and other professional skills. In terms of contributing to the program and the learning community, my studying for masters can contribute by providing professional help to those people who will face with academic struggles in accounting. In addition, in the Accounting master program at university of Oregon, I will be able to apply theoretical skills that I gained at my Accounting bachelor degree into practice skills.
Now it is the time to tell the admission office my story and the reason why I am the right candidate for master’s degree in Accounting. I have graduated from Bachelor of Arts in Accounting in University of Oregon, and accounting is something that I really love doing. The University of Oregon gave me not only professional accounting knowledge, but also it gave me confidence, excellent communication skills, exploring different cultures, the ability to improve English language skills and the strength to believe in myself. I started learning English since I was ten years old. As a little child, I was only focused on theoretical part of learning English, but my practical part was struggling. The arrival to the USA gave me the great opportunity to practice English with professors, random people and fellow classmates; it was a challenging, but a very fruitful process. All the skills that I gained while I was studying for Bachelor, will be very beneficial for me in MAcc program. Studying in MAcc program is a great chance to learn at firsthand about the real workforce in accounting sphere or further more about the world. As a person who lived for couple years in the United States, I able to work with people of different cultures respectively, since I am a bilingual speaker who speaks Korean and English. Understanding culture what I have can bring benefits to the program and further more to developing global business. I can bring benefits to the program by the ability to understand different cultures, since nowadays globalization in most of our life and job spheres became inevitable (Tarman, 2011).
Getting accepted and graduating from a Master’s degree in accounting is not an easy process, however, I overcame the challenges that came into my way while studying for bachelor degree in Accounting, and therefore, I believe that I will overcome all the difficulties and challenges in master’s program. Working with numbers have been my favorite thing to do since high school, and MAcc program at University of Oregon will give me the unique opportunity to learn and to practice accountancy (Chen, n.d.) to the highest level of knowledge. In the 21st century, knowledge is power and the one who knows the valuable things, is valued in the company. MAcc will give the knowledge and the possibility to have a good and successful career with promotion opportunities. There is a saying that “nothing is impossible”. I find that the word “impossible” itself says “I’m possible”.
