The Numbers Speak
Two of the greatest players the game football has ever seen are Lionel Andrés "Leo" Messi Cuccittini or better known as Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro more popularly known as simply Ronaldo.
Messi, born in June 24, 1987 hails from Argentina in a modest family. He started playing football at the age of five for a local club coached by his father. He moved to the Foot Ball Club of Barcelona in his Junior years and has played for the team since then, leading them to numerous wins. He has also represented his country in all FIFA World Cup since 2007.
Ronaldo, on the other hand was born on February 5, 1985 is a Portuguese whose father is a professional football player. He is dubbed as the world’s most expensive player. He started his career with the football club Andorinha and moved to CD National in 2005. Since then, he has moved to different ball clubs until he moved to Manchester United where he played for several seasons. However, on 2009, he moved to Real Madrid. He has also gained numerous awards in tournaments and the FIFA World Cups.
The table below presents the statistics of the two players for the past 10 years of their professional careers.
It can be gleaned on the table that their statistics are really at par with each other. Messi had played a total of 432 games for his professional team and had average goals of .8495 per game while his average assists per game for the last 10 years are 0.3079. Ronaldo, on the other hand had a total of 466 games in the last 10 years with an average goal per game of 0.8155 and an average assist per game of 0.2425.
