The paper also proceeds to compare the protagonists giving their personal traits, physical characteristics and other behaviours unique to them. In making a comparison, the paper also provides specific actions performed by actors from both movies and how they assist in building the plot of the story. In its furthest, the paper is biased as it considers the protagonist from either of the stories, gives the challenges that he goes through, conflicts generated and how they assist escalate and develop the story. It finally ends by giving reasons why writers raise the stakes and heighten conflict as the film progresses.
A million dollar baby is an action movie having Frankie Dunn as the primary protagonist and Maggie Fritzgerald as the main Antagonist. It can be viewed that Frankie is the protagonist because Maggie brings him out of balance by reminding him of his daughter and therefore tries to find means of getting rid of her. In addition to this, Maggie has a good intention all she needs to be trained by the descent coach who is Frankie. From the incident, following His refusal, he is clearly viewed as a protagonist though in the end accepts to train her since she is persistent and optimistic about what she needs.
Legally Blonde, on the other hand, is an American Comedy based on the novel written by Amanda Brown. It’s about a lady Elle Woods who lost his boyfriend and later on goes through thick and thin to get him back. She is a student of fashion merchandising and a girlfriend to Warner, the governor’s son. Warner decides to break with her thinking that she is not a big deal for his political aspirations. Elle struggles join the law school and use possible means to reach his ex-boyfriend.
In the movie a Million Dollar Baby, The chief protagonist is Frankie whereas, in Legally Blonde, several actors such as Vivian Kensington and Warner, the ex-boyfriend is the cream. Vivian was, however, more irrelevant and therefore, considered senior Protagonist. The two actors from either movie are similar in that they were all ill-minded. They both had wrong motives towards the antagonists. Initially in the Movie, before Frankie accepts to train Maggie he was of the idea of killing her though this ended up not succeeding. In the case of Legally Blonde Vivian uses all means to make the life of Elle hard while at the college. She invites her to a party only to publicly harass her and make her lose her self-esteem.
Frankie is a hypocrite, He initially refuses to train Maggie to the extent of threatening her life but later on changes his mind and accepts to offer similar services. Vivian on her side is very persistent and ambitious, she proceeds with her plan without changing mind. In the beginning, after becoming a new girlfriend to Warner, she senses the presence of Elle and starts to embarrass her from the beginning. Towards the end, it can be seen that she accuses Elle of using sex to elevate her profession. There is no change in her thinking towards Elle despite all the success and struggle that the antagonist is striving to achieve.
The background of Warner who is the Governor's son also brings conflict between Elle and Vivian. When it comes to Elle; she is optimistic, a hard worker, very passionate in all that she does. She struggles to achieve everything through her personal efforts. In Vivian’s mind its competition for the wealth of the governors family and that is the cause of the struggle taking much time of Vivian and even making her not to perform well in her academics, this is finally reflected when she graduates without honours or job offers.
Based on the Movie Legally Blonde, the protagonist faces many challenges that escalate the movie to the climax. Firstly, determinacy of Elle is an obstacle to Vivian. Elle joins the college, she encounters Warner and struggles to keep with learning makes her be kicked from class. After being under rated by the professor, she seeks the advice on how to handle them and finally proceeds with studies. In another instance, Vivian invites her to a party and humiliates her with a motive of making her quit but because of her passion she finds what to settle and proceeds with studies. Secondly, Intelligence of Elle was a factor. Elle being wise, filled with knowledge and skills was a threat to all the ill-motives planned by Vivian. Elle’s engagement in Brooke’s case assisted a lot in making the judgment and finding the linkage that exists among the individuals involved. By the help of Callahan, they again trick the pool cleaner to make a confession which later on plays a significant role in solving the case. All these achievements of Elle worked at the disadvantage of Vivian as Elle was growing professionally and even earning respect from the professors who initially under rated her competence. Additionally, Vivian was arrogant and unprofessional. A professional is expected to reason a specific way. Her arrogance and greed acted as her obstacle. She wanted to have Warner at her side forgetting her studies. Besides, she publicly humiliated Elle and which was not in order. Finally, the worst part of it all is when she accused Elle of using sex to heighten her career. It worked against her when she learnt of the truth which later made her lose everything including Warner, Job offer and even the honour of graduation.
Filmmakers in most cases raise stakes and elevates conflicts in movies so as to arouse the interest of the viewers. Whenever there is a conflict, most viewers may not be able to top or abandon watching the movies as they will be eager to know what is to happen and how the whole story ends. In addition to this, it enables the viewers to take sides building their interest in the movie and to various actors. In summary, both the protagonists have ill motives towards the antagonists but this later changes. From both stories again, the importance of being persistent and optimistic is revealed. This is evident from the behaviour of Maggie that enabled her to achieve her passion of being trained by the best coach and also assisted Elle in achieving her dreams. The paper tackle’s how the personal physical characteristics and behaviour play a role in the generation of plot and again the importance of conflict creation I am arousing the interest of viewers.
