Who is considered to be a moral agent? The answer to this question is simple. It could be anyone: a nurse, a teacher, a policeman or just a person one meets on the street. But what does define the term of ‘moral agent’? One can say that it is a capability of acting with reference to right and wrong.
Now does society have an example of a moral agent in the modern society? One can say that Mother Teresa is a good example of a moral agent. She put others happiness and wellness before herself and was giving all she had in the need of others. Although she has made a big impact on the modern world and has helped many poor people, she lived a very simple life herself, begged for food on the street just to survive. She always said that it was her duty to help the poor.
Aristotle claimed that each human should accept its moral responsibility, which should be showed in their action which should be performed voluntarily. Mother Teresa was a missionary from the age of 18 and was preforming her kind actions by her own will and devoted herself to helping others (which was her moral responsibility). As Aristotle claimed: “Moral evaluation of an action presupposes the attribution of responsibility to a human agent” (Kemerling 1). Aristotle also claimed that passion cannot be a virtue as humans are not responsible for their feelings, but are responsible for the deeds, as Mother Teresa was showing her kindness helping as many people as she could. Mother Teresa is indeed a great example of a moral agent as she took upon her moral responsibility and made the best out of it by showing others how to help though in need.
