I strongly believe that the world you come from can shape your dreams and aspiration. I was born and raised in a very conformist country. That is the place where I learnt that in order to reach anything in my life I should first get appropriate education – education is very important in my country and I decided to do whatever it takes to get the best education possible. Although universities in my country offer very profound and quality education, I want to go further than that and beside education broaden my outlook as well – the USA is a perfect choice for this.
Undoubtedly, the world I come from is not restricted to my country-it also includes my family. Being the only child in the family, where the parents got divorced, made me a rebel: since I was 9 years old, they give me the hardest choice that anyone can face. It is to choose the side I want to stay with, it should be either my mother or my father. I always did my best to persuade my parents that I could never be capable to do it, this taught me to be independent (and I am!) and, despite any difficulties in my family, I should go and get the education I strive for. I think that my desire to be an independent and strong man is in my blood. I am also self-confident and independent and I hope that studying in the US will help me strengthen those features.
My father used to think that I should stay in my country because of the numerous reasons he came up with. First of all, he believes that I will not be able to take care of myself if I leave. Secondly, as he always tries to manipulate me, it will not be possible if I am that far away. In fact, my trip to the US was at risk – disobeying to father is not acceptable in our culture, and my family is too conservative. Thus, I had to persuade him to let me go and get that education of my dream no matter what.
Telling more about myself, I am intrinsically motivated to help people. I have a rich profile of voluntary work. I have volunteered at the soup kitchen and in the hospital with the seniors. This taught me a lot, I have gained enormous respect for older people, they literally insipired me to continue my pursuit of happiness. They taught me to be self-motivated and self-reliant. Being involved in voluntary work presented me with an opportunity to interact with patients suffering from various ailments first hand. Currently I posses effectual communication skills (both written and spoken) that enable me communicate effectively with all and sundry. Additionally, the placements as well as the voluntary opportunities helped realize the importance of building special relationships and trust with all the patients.
I am convinced that education in the USA is the best education in the world – it is not only about getting necessary and useful knowledge, it is also about becoming a better person. Apart from excellent education I would love to discover who I really am – going to and living in a foreign country will definitely open my eyes on the personal qualities I possess and the way they could be improved.
I consider myself to be a very determined person: as soon as I am absolutely sure that my decision is right, I would do everything possible and impossible to accomplish my goal. I finally convinced my father that he should let me go! This proves that I can really be a determined, strong, independent man and overcome all the obstacles on my way in order to achieve what I want so badly.
There is a saying by Roger Crawford, “Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional,” – this is my motto in life. I am the only one who is in charge of my own life and my future. This year I am starting a new stage of my life and I am ready to fight for it to be just the way I want it. Getting accepted to the University will open a new chapter of my life. I am committed to making the new experiences that accompany my admission into getting contributions for campus life.
Out of academics I am a very friendly person as all my friends and acquaitances say. I love going in for sports, hiking and biking. I enjoy socialising and playing football with my friends. Being in teamwork as both a part and a leader has developed my teamwork proficiency. I have adept leadership skill and compelling teamwork abilities which allow me to contribute arguments and ideas fluently; three features which I suppose will prove useful in being successful in the field of Medicine. Due to my family I am a committed, honest, responsible and determined individual who will appreciate and work extra harder if given the opportunity to study in your university. I am hopeful that I will get accepted into you program.
