Early childhood development is important through the understanding of the three components in a child’s brain. The use of technology affects the brain development, both health-wise and in the creative thinking aspect. The integration of technology in the schools appears to have more physical benefits while degrading the brain development of the children. The children enjoy the technology for entertainment and in school, they consider it more interesting than when the teachers speak. The dependence and preference of technology have made the children lack the ability to creative and critical thinking. The over-indulgence in technology is harmful in many ways (Vermaak, 2010). Therefore, teachers and parents have the responsibility of monitoring the access of children to technology for the sake of their brain development.
Scott: Comments
According to Scott’s response to early childhood development, the brain develops based on what a child perceives. Therefore, the use of TV, playing video games and the sharing information violates the children’s’ minds. Technology has corrupted the development of children and affects their moral standards as well. Technology makes work easier as compared to performing various tasks manually. Some parents believe that dependence on technology does not allow the child to exercise individualism through creativity and imagination. On the other hand, teachers prefer the use of technology as it makes the process of teaching less tiresome and involving. It means that teachers can get away with the lack of knowledge regarding certain topics that they teach in schools. Therefore, the use of technology poses greater potential risks for the early development of children both at home and in school. The brain development stage of children plays a major role in their future activities (Vermaak, 2010).
