A nonprofit organization is an organization in which its surplus revenues are used to achieve certain goals in the society. In other organizations that are profit making, the surplus revenue is distributed as dividends or revenue. The work of a nonprofit organization is to give aid, which include providing people with food, shelter and clothing, and helping them to start their own businesses. The ‘Wings to fly’ is a nonprofit organization that aims at promoting the self-esteem of the young women in society. The organization addresses the issue of confidence and self-esteem against the youths, especially the young women. The youths in the organization are taught on how to build a business on their own. The organization involves the youths in fun, but with an intended purpose. The organization has linked its activities on four pillars. These are financial, emotional, spiritual, and physical ground (Mruk, 67).
Self-esteem is the feeling that a person has about himself or herself. Low self-esteem in youths has negative effects, which include lack of confidence, poor academic performance for the youths, risky behaviors amongst youths, and depression (Coopersmith 54). Lack of self-esteem makes youths uncomfortable when they are amongst other youths. This limits the thinking capacity of the youths and reduces the level of socialization. The activities of the organization are aimed at improving the self-esteem of youths through different camp activities, which they undertake. With a low self-esteem, youths lack confidence and motivation to learn new things. This makes the youths to perform poorly in academics. Low self-esteem on the young girls makes them get involved in sexual activities at an early age. These youths will further get involved in behaviors such as smoking. The organization is meant to advice and helps the youths learn about the importance of believing in them.
The activities of the organization focus on educating the youths through an interactive way in order to inspire them and improve their self-esteem in life. The organization focuses on young girls aged between twelve and seventeen years (Coopersmith, 46). These youths are mentored and trained, giving them the opportunity to be leaders. Renie Cavallari, who is the chairperson and founder of the organization, founded ‘Wings to fly’ organization. The organization was founded in 2007 through the efforts of Renie. The vision of Renie was to create a camp where she could encourage and inspire the youths
Wings to fly company were developed to ensure that its members adopted a viable occupation at a lower age. Wings to fly ensure is a self-run organization with significantly few leadership positions. Most of the members are young women, who are at the risk of falling out in favor of the society (Mruk, 58). The organization is also situated in remote areas, where education is not emphatically addressed and at least few girls end up being married or pregnant at such a tender age.
Given this level of significance, it is clear that this organization is objective and out on a cause to change the perspective of most people within the society. The leadership body has a few grandaunts from various universities. The organization is determined to preach sometimes if it will change the perceptions of the parents of poor girls within the society. Considering the current challenges, the organization has a long way to go since most of the areas, the effects of government in tactically minimal.
The organization is working hard to acquire more aid from other organizations such as United Nations. Wings to fly has some few resources from faithful donations and most of the human resources are voluntary work from determined graduates who have a feeling that they can bring a significant change back to the minority into the society. Within the next few months, we will have influenced various areas across the country. We understand that the most important aspect is moral education and enlightenment of the parents to most of the girls within the society. Without the organization, the rate of school dropouts, early marriages and inherited poverty will remain various societal backgrounds within the country.
The youth consists of the majority of American citizens. The youths have a lot of unutilized energy that can be used to better the world today and make a better future. However, the youths face many problems in the society today. These challenges have limited the ability of the youth to become responsible for their futures (Robert Chester, 24). ‘Wings to fly’ organization seeks to empower youth to take control of their lives and help develop the country’s economy. Young women have become victims of ignorance in different parts of the country and have ruined their lives. There is a need to guide these youth to discover themselves and their potential to help them achieve their goals in life. This can be achieved by promoting responsibility among the youth.
