Watching the videos says so much about North Korea that not many people are aware about. The mainstream media seems to characterize the country as an isolated state where the way of life is highly controlled by the government. However, the videos showed another side of a country that is suffering internally because of its apparent isolation from the rest of the world. Before, I have known North Korea as a socialist States where the head of the government assumes absolute power over the entire country. However, the video titled Secret State of North Korea showed a more profound image of a country where hunger is a common social issue that still prevails, but the government conceals the truth about the state of its people through propagandas.
It is disconcerting to see children as young as five years old are wandering the streets on their own because their parents can no longer keep them. The nature of the prevailing political policies seems to have affected the lives of the North Korean people in such a way that the policies have created the conditions for severe poverty. In another video titled Camp 14, the refugee from a highly secured death camp was only able to make a narrow escape from the hellish living condition by smuggling himself out of the camp. As early as six years old, the children in the camp are being subjected to forced labor with his family, which is something that is not often depicted in the mainstream media. The videos showed the true of a country that is totally in a different world.
