Physical education teachers get to spend much of their time giving physical education instructions to their students. Their work calls for their full participation and those of their students. One such teacher, that I had an opportunity to talk to is Trevor Jud. He takes on mostly unmotivated students who are not at all willing to do the exercises but then, to deal with this problem, has devised mechanisms of bringing these students on board. At twenty eight years, he has a huge experience of working with students of all ages.
Depending on the ages of the students, he has devised different kinds of exercises in order to accommodate everyone. But the one thing that cuts across are the activities that each group gets involved in. such activities are among many warm up activities and main activities. Warm up activities include singing such as ‘head, shoulders knees and toes’ and also playing the cat and mouse game. Thereafter, the exercises get more intense. The activities involved here include among others acrobatics, jogging, running and even vigorous dancing. He fully participates in all these activities whereby he endeavors to encourage his students to participate.
He has to fully participate in the exercise fully and is always keen on ensuring that everyone participates. Everyone is reached out to and this ensures that there is maximum interaction among the students. In order to ensure this, he has devised mechanisms and has also come up with exercises which students perform in pairs or in groups. This ensures maximum interaction. He is always on the forefront giving instructions by first performing and then the students following. I believe his way of involvement ensures that everyone is fully involved.
