It is not a surprise that the older women are more likely to deliver twins, especially if it is the first time they get pregnant. The scientists have worked on discovering this mystery and have finally found the reasons for this phenomenon. Firstly, after the age of 35, the brain starts to produce follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormones which make ovaries produce more than one egg one ovulation eggs. The second reason is the medical treatment or even in vitro fertilization and intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection that women diagnosed with unexplained fertility undergo (Jick).
The older women are also more prone to obesity. The scientists have conducted a research among pregnant women of the different sizes and discovered that women, whose body mass index is higher than thirty, are much more likely to conceive and deliver the twins (Jick).
Why do women decide to postpone starting a family? Although the healthy women deliver babies at any age without problems, the risk of complications increases with the years. That is why the government and medical workers are worried, and different social, psychological and biological surveys are being conducted.
A lot of women tell that they are facing difficulties while trying to find the right partner to begin a family with. Some women want to build a career first to provide their children with all the necessaries in the childhood and a good education when they grow up. A big part has difficulties to conceive a baby but does not have money to receive the proper treatment. The government usually does not cover these expenses due to the lack of guarantee that it will work. A lot of pairs wait until they buy their own house before starting a family. There are also women, who are still not emotionally ready to give up their freedom and devote the rest of their life to someone else (Borland).
