I believe Neanderthals and Denisovans should not be classified as different paleo-species relative to Homo sapiens sapiens. The article points to recent research that reveals that those three groups interbred. It means that they were not different from each other. If they interbred and gave birth to offerings, their genetic make-up was almost similar. Besides, it also implies that they could communicate with one another and co-exist. History and common knowledge tell that organisms from the same species are the only ones that can naturally communicate with each other because they speak the same “language.”
Scientific progress is founded on new discoveries. These discoveries either buildup of existing knowledge or they falsify existing scientific beliefs. Therefore, scientific progress allows us to know the truth and have a better understanding of the physical world. Scientific progress can only be made if we embrace the change. There was a time when it was believed the world was flat. Galileo was persecuted for suggesting the world is round. Many years later, it was found that Galileo was right. Therefore, we should not deny the recent scientific findings. It there is evidence to support the assertions then we should embrace it. If a contrary evidence is provided then, we can update our knowledge on human evolution. Even if we deny it, if it is the truth other scientists will discover it in the future and change our understanding of evolution. Embracing it will not only be scientific progress but will also be a new platform upon which future research on the subject will be based. Besides, it will allow for scientific discourse allowing extensive research on it to provide support or refute the new found knowledge.
